PHSC 2015 Nursing Hopefuls

Published

Hey everyone!

I found one topic on this, but it wasn't very active, so I hope this one becomes a little more successful. My name is Jennifer, and I am applying for the January 2015 Nursing Program at PHSC. My home campus is Porter at Wiregrass Ranch. Are there any other 2015 hopefuls? I'd like to get to know you all! I am taking my TEAS next Tuesday and am so nervous. This will be my first time taking the TEAS. Have any of you taken it? How was it?

Any tips? I have finished all me pre-reqs and finished with a 3.6. Not too bad, wish I would have got higher! Hope I get in! Good luck to all you ladies!

Thanks!

Congratulations everyone. I am a 2015 Fall hopeful (if I can pass my teas). Just wanted to ask what was the lowest teas score that was accepted into RN? a girl in my class has a 3.8 and 67 teas and was accepted RN (I'm on EC).

Also would anyone mind posting the schedule when you find out? Just curious what it would be like since I have 2 kids and how crazy the days in nursing school would be. Good luck to everyone!!

The independent score on TEAS is only one of the factors that they look at. The RN program uses a composite scoring system.

RN composite scoring formula:

The first steps are to take your pre-req GPA andmultiply by 25 then multiply that by .45.

The second step is to divide your TEAS by 2.

The third step is to add 5 points if you are aPasco or Hernando resident. (This can make a BIG difference)

Add your scores and that is your composite.

Example:

GPA 4.0*25=100*.45=45

TEAS 80/2=40

Resident +5

45+40+5= would have an entrance score of 90 forthe program

The LPN or PN program will only utilize the TEAS to determine who makes it in and who didn't.

It appears that the cutoff for the RN program was just below 80.1 and the cutoff for the PN program was between 70 and 67.

The list below is the most current one that we have from the Spring class. Hope this helps you out.

you can find the Springs and the past Falls course schedule on the PHSC web site. The class is NUR1021 and the lab/practical is NUR1021L. We will not be given our individual schedules until the orientation on December 4th.

One thing to keep in mind is if you are wanting to be considered a full time student you need 12 credit hours and the nursing classes for the first semester only equals to 10.5. I chose to take an on-line class that will not be too hard (Medical Terminology) but there are plenty to choose from.

Thank you for the reply and for being so helpful. I saw the course schedule before but I had spoken to a current Student in the nursing program and she said she had

(sorry dk why it only allows so lil characters) she had clinicals saturday. i already have all my pre reqs and and s previous AA deg so im set to go. Just need a better Teas score. Thank you for taking the time to reply :)

Never heard of Saturday clinicals. I think a safe composite score will be around 84 and up

Specializes in LPN.

My friend got accepted in HCC's RN program and she told me she didn't require a TEAS score and her GPA was 3.3

I heard that HCC will start requiring the TEAS on their Fall program if I'm not mistaken.

I got the call today, I was accepted into the LPN at WC!!!!! I'm soo excited. Just waiting for them to email my packet so I know what to do next. When is orientation?
