I had to laugh about the part "all those report cards I had to hide"!! I was the same way in high school...but NOT in college!
We had a candlelight induction ceremony for PTK and...yeah..we had to keep the ole GPA way up there!

I am a member of PTK, I have graduated a few years ago and unfortunately do not follow any meetings.

I just joined PTK a couple of weeks ago after receiving an invite. Lisa, it's funny though that although we attend the same school but different locations that your fee was higher than mine. Mine was only $43. I did hear that our branch of the school really wasn't a very involved chapter. I think that your branch may be the main one from DE. Hence the increased price? Weird, huh?
Anyway, I'm hoping to maintain the 3.5 through clinicals and be able to wear the sash at graduation. Keeping the old fingers crossed.

Hi Cindy! That is crazy that they charge a different price. My candle light induction is tomorrow, but I won't be there. I'll be at the hospital for my evening clinical.

Hi everybody! I brought this back to the top because I'm having the official induction ceremony on Friday. I wanted to know how was it for those of you who have attended it. I'm just curious to know if the ceremony varies by school. Does everyone have a candlelight ceremony? Thanks for any replies.

My induction ceremony last year was a very nice buffet of finger foods... pupus, here in Hawaii. The cafeteria was decorated nicely. Then all of us to be inducted sat in the front, sort of like a grad ceremony while a bunch of stuff was read about PTK. We each got to write a 3x5 card about ourself, goals with college, etc. It was a very nice reception, got some little trinkets and a rose. Ours was in the daytime and we had no candles.
I brought my family. There was this one gal... a young, single mom, first one in her family to go to college... her dad was so proud of her he took flash pictures of her throughout the whole thing. It was very cute!
PTK is responsible for me being offered a $14000 scholarship... very worth the $60 dues! I'm glad to have the excuse to keep my grades up... I may have been lazy had I not had the PTK scholarship hanging over my head!
