I thought I should start a separate thread for those of us applying for the August 2015 start date. I mailed my application on Tuesday hopefully it reached the office today. Does anyone know if they still send out letters notifying you with how many points you received? If so when are they generally mailed out?
Question about Hep B documentation....
I got my Hep B vaccines at a past place of employment in the mid 90's. I checked with them, and they no longer have records from that long ago. I do have a titer showing I am immunized. The documentation required page says:
"Hepatitis B –
The Hepatitis B vaccine is recommended for health care workers by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). Official documentation must be provided for all three injections and a titer drawn showing proof of immunity. OR a signed Hepatitis B waiver must be on file in the Nursing Division Office."
Will they accept only a titer? Anyone else run into this?
Agree with what was stated. I had mine administered at my elementary school and although my immunization card is signed and dated, I could not provide the lab paperwork and the county couldn't provide it either. Anyways I had the titer and that was sufficient enough. Im sure a lot of people run into this and the waiver is just a CYA for the school and clinical sites
Hi everybody.
I just saw this thread and just wanted to wish everybody good luck! I will just say this, the first semester of Fundamental's is no walk in the park so be sure to put the time and effort into studying, this goes same for the Essentials class. While the Essentials class isn't as hard, it will still require your attention however the instructor is AMAZING and really wants to see her students succeed!
Build good habits during the first semester I say such as making a study group, flash cards, studying power points, reading the material before class is ALL KEY because the second semester was probably my hardest semester between Mental Health, OBGYN, and Adult I but they can be split up if you request it as well but I think the good habits I built from the first semester really helped me in the second semester. Another thing I'd like to add, always try to aim for the highest score possible on each test and EVERY ASSIGNMENT your given because each semester towards the end of the semester you'll take a proctored ATI exam which is pretty difficult and can easily make or break your grade from passing or failing, especially if you're at a border line C-D. Even try to find time to read through those books throughout the semester as well if you can because it will help and you be surprised sometimes the instructors will pull questions directly from those books!!
I'm in the program myself and if you have any other further questions please don't hesitate to ask me as I'll try to keep checking back in here on AllNurses periodically, at least until class starts back up in the Fall.

I'm at the end of the alphabet when it comes to last names so I'm kinda used to having to wait, either way it got done and (MODERATOR EDIT NAME) was super nice and apologetic about running behind!
As as for fundamentals, i've heard it's very challenging and there is a lot to take in. Hopefully we can all stick together and get through every class together.
