I thought I should start a separate thread for those of us applying for the August 2015 start date. I mailed my application on Tuesday hopefully it reached the office today. Does anyone know if they still send out letters notifying you with how many points you received? If so when are they generally mailed out?
You guys might start by calling the school, maybe they can help over the phone in advising. Otherwise you may have to make a trip in to see an advisor who can change that for you. I had to submit a form asking to be changed to a nursing degree because my financial aid would not cover PSYC 243 under the associates of arts degree. They changed it with the form ok. You shouldn't have to fill that out though, you have already been accepted. That's why I wonder if a call to advising would fix it.
On a side note I talked with a current student the other night. She said to not expect the program to be more organized than it is now:( , bummer, but good to know in advance. She also said to be prepared for learning and tests like you have never seen before. It's a tough program, but with hard work you can do it!
Hey Lilacs, I actually went to advising a couple of weeks ago to have my degree plan changed and advising contacted the nursing department to have it changed. But the director of the program informed us that the nursing department has to change our degree plan no one else can.
I have also heard about how unorganized the program is unfortunately, but like you said I'm glad we know ahead of time. I'm going to call today although I hate calling because either no one answers the phone or the person who answers the phone has no clue what I'm talking about. Lilacs did you get the supply list from the student you spoke with? If not I can share a supply list from a current student.
ETA: So I just called the nursing department the secretary said they're working on the issue with enrolling and it should be fixed by Friday if you're still having issues on Friday call back. They also told current students last week the issue would be resolved last Friday. *sigh*
They just posted to the FB page about them working on it. If you still have questions you are supposed to email the director or her assistant. Hope it gets figured out for everyone.
As for changing my degree, advising (or financial aid, not sure) did it after I filled out a form. When I look online under 'what-if-advisement' it now shows Professional Nursing Program. I made the request explaining my goal and what I have done to get there. Apparently, this comes up for those of us using any financial aid, because PSYC 243 was not going to be covered by my loans under the Assoc of Arts. Now of course my ENGL 102 is not covered and I had to sign a waver that I would pay out of my own pocket for that class.
Crazy the hoops you have to go through to get a degree. It will be worth it though, so I am jumping!
Honestly, I am glad to see that this is what getting enrolled into the program looks like. Now I won't freak out in Nov/Dec when it happens to me. Thank for being so helpful
Lilacs, I filled out that form too My advisor ended up shredding the form because the nursing department told her I would have to wait until they change it. I'm so grateful for this forum I'm glad we can share information with each other it definitely helps knowing other people are experiencing the same issue. I hope this thread helps future students
Josh, here is what Little_Bear2013 sent me
The supplies we needed first semester included: Stethoscope (brand doesn't matter, preferred to have a bell on it), pen light, all black or white shoes, black scrub pants (I bought mine from Walmart because there much cheaper than the ones the school offered), the red scrub top should be bought from the program because it has the schools logo on it, something to hold your school badge and clip it onto your scrubs or like a lanyard.
Some people buy voice recorders for class too, while the school has a program they use to record lectures they just got it last semester and some instructors use it and others don't but last semester we all had so many issues with it so I just recorded lectures on my phone or typed notes on power points on my laptop.
Remove your email address if you can I would hate for spammers to use it.

I received the email as well but I can't enroll because my degree plan has not been changed. Can anyone else enroll?
