Pending Deficiency GA BON

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

Hi all! I am freaking out! I just graduated nursing school and am preparing to take the NCLEX. I did my background check Monday 5/20 and submitted my application to the GA BON Wednesday 5/22. I was told that I should check the site while waiting for my ATT. Of course I am anxious because some of my classmates have gotten theirs already, so I checked the site today and it said Pending Deficiency!! What does that mean!!?!?!? Has anyone else had this situation arise in GA??!? Or anywhere else? Any input that can be provided would be great! Thanks!

Could it mean that you left out some part of the application paperwork? Sometimes 'deficiency' means that.

I thought that may be what it was, but the application was online and wouldn't let you go any further if the required fields weren't filled in. I'm going to call them tomorrow and of course tomorrow can't come soon enough. sheesh!!

Never heard of this... so please do keep us posted.

And try not to sweat it... likely something clerical, and not substantial.

Good luck!

jweb: Were you able to figure out what PENDING DEFICIENCY means? I have the same info posted on my application status and tried calling the SBON office today but kept getting a busy signal.

Is it a norm in your state to wait that late to apply and do background check? Maybe the background check is not complete yet?

I am in Texas and just graduated and we did our fingerprints/background prior to getting in to nursing school, as soon as we found out we got in they had us do it. Then we had to apply to the BON this past February.

I hope that it is an easy fix for you and that you get your ATT soon!

@formack, even though you did a background check before school the board still requires you to do another when submitting your app

I'm in another state. However, I submitted ALL required documents to the BON on 3/2013 by 5/2013 still no ATT. Called and the representative said, "You need to submit fingerprints, blah, blah, blah." Explained I did and she said hold on...."Oh, I never processed the paperwork". I was very nice and professional about the mishap. I understood. I use to work as a preschool educator; tolerance and patience comes very easy for me.

Also as of May, 2013 the CCA form is mandatory in the event to complete the application process. Initially it wasn't and I just printed the form from the website and faxed the same day. Received my ATT via email by 8:45 am. Best wishes.

msmack, you are right. When I applied in Feb. they did have us fill it out again.

Jweb-- let us know what the BON says!
