Hi there friends and colleagues!
I would like to ask about Prentice hall's nclex-rn by Mary Ann Hogan (Pearsonvue), do you think this resource material would help me prepare for the nclex-rn exam? What about nclex-rn exam cram? Did anybody used this resources helped them? I just purchased these two books and they're very much overwhelming and very thick to read on. What can u suggest me to do inorder to go through these books? Are the questions in these books similar as the onces in the board exam? Just wondering. Thank you for your time to read on and answer my inquiries. Thank you.
yes this is my first and hopefully MY LAST time!
Hi NewAggieGrad09 goodluck on your test! I'm sure you'll be just fine. You've been preparing for this exam for a very long time and 73% on ur mock test sounds really really promising! Nail the exam sweety! I'll keep notes on everything you've taught me and suggested to me on how to deal with my study plan. I wish you well on ur test. Goodluck!
I used Mary Ann Hogan's CD reviewer starting August 4th to 25th and Lacharity's Reviewer for a week. I tallied my daily scores on a spare calendar based on Hogan's sample. It helped me to track my progress. I like the CD though it has typo errors but the questions are harder than Saunders (for me). I did not study 2 days before the exam.
I am still waiting for my August 28th exam result. Tried the Pearsonvue trick, it would not let me register.
Hope I pass. . .
Good luck. . .
Wow! You've finished hogan's in less than a month. Amazing~sound's like you passed! I'm so happy for you. The pearsontrick hasn't been proven wrong. I tried to trick last Aug.14 and it let me reregister a day after i got my brown envelope and i didn't made it. So I think you pass. Congratulations!!!! I'm so happy for you.
Not sure if I want to test around Dec or wait until after the year end and start fresh in Jan 2010.If start studies Sept 1 that would give me 4 months and plenty time to send for my ATT.
I plan to use Saunders 4th ed. the way Suzannes plan had suggested along with La Charity since I got little to none of this in school. CDC for infection control and not sure who or what for pharmacology. Was thinking about live review but decided to hold off on that. Now that I'm answering you it will be JAN. I need that time for the 4 areas and questions to boot. Prize: RN Licensure
GOAL: RN Licensure with grace and humility
Method: ALMIGHTY GOD with prayers & lots of hard work
When: HIS DUE TIME
Hi Pedsnurze! Just decide to send you a warm hello and see how ur doing? Me too I need more time to prepare for this exam. I dont think i'll be ready by oct. we'll see...right now im just reading my nsg. content again and practice little quizzes here in there from ncsbn. Other than that I'm really trying to understand the core content. What really is my major concern is pharmacology...i just can't seem to get it in my head. It's frustrating! And coversions and calculations too I sucked on those. Hopefully we can take the test on the same month. I really am not ready to take it on oct. I still haven't gotten my ATT either. I don't know...I just want to get this test done and over with. I'm more worried of failing it again and then refiling again to qualify for ohio board. I really don't want to take another toefl.ibt exam or another cgfns eval. it was just too much money and took me awhile to get that all done. But the fact remains all my credentials are going to expire by oct.25 so I really have to study harder and make sure this time around i'm ready. That will be our goal. With hardwork and prayers I know we can do this. Let's keep studying. I hope we can help each other. How do u study? How have u managed your study plan in the day? Me, I wake up 6am then I read for 2hrs, then i rest at 9 and eat breakfast. Go log in at 10 then practice a few online quizzes then stop at 12-2pm and rest then go back studying reviewing rationales and my notes or go about the book's review content/chapter. I finally stop studying at 6pm. Watch tv in the evening. How about u?
Any resource properly used will help one to pass NCLEX. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed. Don't think about the entire book at once. Get a calendar and map out a study plan. Go over only a set number of pages each day, and only those pages. Taken in little bites the meal can still be finished. Good luck.
Hi calioletter3! I was just wondering if it's alright i'd like to ask a few questions. Ahm, I'd like to know ur study plan? and what resources you've used? how many hrs do you study? and how many Q and A's do you practice everyday?

Thank u so much!! I am sitting here, with my heart pounding in my stomach (or is it an AAA? lmao). I am not gonna study today, just look over the flash cards I made with labs on them....even tho I am havin a hard time keeping myself from studying. I'm gonna go out and watch my friends play football, then come home, watch a movie, take a bubble bath, and go to bed. I am so anxious and scared for tomorrow to come, but I have prayed about it in church today and every nite b4 bed, and I have recited a inspirational quote one of my nursing instructors gave to us on a card to keep in our wallets. I have done all I could do....all up to God now. Whatever the outcome, I am so glad I made it this far, and I have nowhere to go but up!! Happy studying!
freedom42: i am doing the hurst review and i have hogan. do u think i should list to hurst and read it in hogan? i also answer questions on the topic i am on usually 100 questions a day or should i just listen to hurst? and do questions from hogan?
what worked for me was to listen to marlene's lecture, using the accompanying workbook, and then test myself on that particular lecture's content using the hogan cd. i tried reading hogan, but i found the text very dry. marlene's style and directness make it easy to focus on content. i also did one section of lacharity a day. i'd forgotten until today that i was quite sick leading up to the exam and stopped studying about five days ahead of the test. by the time i reached that point, though, i was scoring 92 to 96% every time on any topic in hogan. it was great for my confidence.
remember, though, that you don't need to score that high. according to the ncsbn website, the passing score is in the low 50s. as marlene points out, you need more right than wrong, period.

Hi freedom42! Today I finally had my schedule plan organized. Im not going to overwhelm myself with too much resources. I'm going to stick with my saunders and hogan for content review, kaplan for strategies, la charity for SATA's, ncsbn for my online review which is going to expire by sept.10, and my hogan, exam cram, saunders, kaplan & lippincott for Q&As in the disc. That's it. I'm going to do the same study plan I did before but only this time I'll try to practice more Q&As and understand the rationales alot better and If I dont know the topic then I'll have to study on that area and brush up on my nsg. content. I have forgotten alot of stuff having graduated last 2003 so I definitely need to work harder and study much harder. Though I know I can't study everything, I'll only cover the once I am not familiar or good at. I'll bear in mind everything you told me on how to study using hogan's disc and book. And I like the way you study on it, review each chapter then practice quizes in the disc every area and category. I kinda would like to follow that. I can't afford to attend hurst live review so I'll pass that...but I will definitely going to study alot harder than I ever did. Thank you for all your advices. You are such a dear friend. I truly appreciate it.
By the way how was your test?
Good luck to you! I passed in 75 questions on the first try, since you asked. But I had just graduated.
