Hello everyone!
I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!
I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.
Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.
I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!
But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!
After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!
Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.
This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.
She said LPN definitely, not RN. I'm referring to post with 210 questions
Might be a good idea, then, to use the "Quote" button when responding to a specific post, like I did here. Otherwise, it looks like you are responding only to the person just before you (at the end of the thread). Which, in this case, was someone who had taken the NCLEX-RN.
Makes it easier to follow your line of thinking :)
ok, finally got my NCLEX results after 5 long weeks!! I passed. I tried the PVT and it did give me the good message as I previously reported on this message string. I left the test feeling confident I passed, but as the weeks passed, I started doubting myself. I tried the PVT 3 weeks after I took the exam on 7/14. I called the BRN twice, what a nightmare, to try and get my results and got no cooperation until after week 4, but still they couldn't tell me anything, but passed me on to someone's voicemail, who was supposed to get back to me. I was panicking a I need my license to finish my BSN program this fall. As the deadline for my license is looming, my BSN director made a phone call to the BRN and the next day I had my license. Not only that but our BRN rep called me personally to congratulate me!! Several students in our BSN progam were in the same boat as myself. However, I think our school was motivated to help us because no students, no tuition, no payroll, no job...I think that was my directors motivation, as the BRN does NOT call you to congratulate you on passing the NCLEX!! Anyhooow, another good tidbit to know is, if you have a misdemeanor or ticket or anything in your background, this will hold up your license as your file will go to "enforcement" for yet another review before they issue you your RN license. I confirmed that twith the BRN rep that called me. So patience, patience, patience,...
So, I took my nclex rn today and was so anxious to find out. Did many researches on whether the pearson vue trick worked or not and after hesitating decided to go ahead and try it out. I did not put in the correct expiry date for my credit card, but the payment still went through and i got a confirmation email about registration. I am so devastated as one I have failed based on this 'trick' and two my credit card will be charged despite the incorrect expiration date. FML....after I cried and decided to read a few more posts someone mentioned to wait a full 24hrs and I didn't, but at this point it doesn't make a difference I guess since I did not get the 'good pop up'..........

Unfortunately, you let your anxiety dictate your finances. By submitting the credit card account number and authorizing the payment (TWO screens to do this, can't be done accidentally) you have given Pearson Vue the fee whether or not you passed......whether or not you need another exam.
People are very fond of insisting that if you only just change the expiration date, then you have no risks whatsoever, it's just a game, blah blah blah. Reality is that a credit card CAN be charged, regardless of the expiration date. It's only a failsafe within the online program that would disallow an expired card to be used, for their protection, not yours.
If a bank NO LONGER HAS your account, if your card has been cancelled or revoked, and a business takes that credit card account number for payment, THEY are out the money (as there is no way to collect on an expired account). HOWEVER, if your account IS valid....your credit card number IS good....it doesn't matter what expiration date you use, YOU OWE THE MONEY.
People don't realize that the expiration date protects businesses from fraud.....and NOT the consumer who fraudulently authorizes payment. People rely on the registration software's declining to use an expired card as a guarantee....and as you just found out, it isn't.
In a nutshell, you will have to wait for your results to arrive either by mail or on the Board of Nursing website. Quick Results are not available for you so you have no other recourse at this time.
If you're lucky, you're just a little poorer but will have a license. If not.....hey, you needed the new registration anyway.
Good luck.
This totally and completely worked for me. I am the biggest skeptic there is. I took the test 9/5/15 and had somewhere between 240-265 questions. I stopped keeping track. My test started around 8am and ended around 12pm. I thought for sure I failed due to the extremely difficult questions. Nothing like a last test to shatter any confidence you have before working, ha! Once I got into my car I did the pearson vue trick.....attempted to re-register, put my CC info in, hit submit and got the good pop up which reads "our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam..." 44 hours later, I paid the $8 for quick results and alas, I passed!!!! So, the trick does in fact work, if you do it correctly. Yes, you have to gamble $200 on the line but in all reality if you failed you'd have to pay it sooner or later anyway.

And if you'd passed but had the charge go through anyway (yes, it has happened) you'd be out two hundred non-refundable bucks. THAT'S the main problem. It worked for you, 100%. But it does NOT work 100% of the time, so I guess if people have money they don't mind losing that could be spent on nice new scrubs, LOL....that's on them!
