Pearson Vue Trick--trick no more

Hello everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!

I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.

Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.

I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!

But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!

After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!

Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.

This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.

The PVT isn't dead. You just now have a higher chance of getting charged $200 if you have failed because they may have set up the PVT so that you have to enter credit card info and submit it to Pearson Vue before it'll tell you if you've passed or not. It's also possible that you submit it to them and then "confirm" on the same page that you'd get the new PVT results and that confirmation would then result in you getting charged.

In short, the stakes are much higher for you now than it was because it's very possible that if you have failed, you end up paying for another exam.

Does your Test result statue still mean anything? Before you have to wait till its "Delivery Successful " now with the update does that even matter?

I took my RN boards August 26th at 2pm in MN. I got 75 questions and there was a couple drag-and-drops and a lot of select all. I tried the trick and it went to the credit card page which freaked me out. I noticed that the website looked different when I logged on to do the trick and now I am hoping that means it doesn't work anymore. I really hope I passed but I am scared. I even have looked stuff up online that I had not been sure about and found that I was right. I'll let you all know how it went but good luck to you all.

Which would have to be paid anyway, unless the failed test-taker decides at that point to join the circus instead of pursing nursing?

PV has been trying to fix the "glitch" that allowed the trick. Guess they did.

True, however the failed test-taker may not have the funds available to pay for another exam at that time.

To me, what would make sense and prevent a lot of issues, would be for applicants to enter CC information, select the exam they want to take (NCLEX of course), and then submit. Then the next screen would ideally be a scheduling screen where the test date & time are also selected and that should be where the new popup should occur. Following that, you'd then confirm the payment for that exam test date & time and it's all done easily. Just my humble, don't have to take NCLEX again, opinion.

I'd hate to pay for an exam that I have no idea when it would be scheduled yet. I'd want to know that I'd chosen a specific date & time so that when I pay my $200, that's when I'm going to test. Pay to take an exam and then schedule it? Pick the exam and then pay for it is what makes sense to me...

So far, it looks like everyone gets the good popup when they put in credit card info. I think it is quite possible that it won't let anyone pay. However if that is not correct and it takes your payment, the problem isn't whether you really want to pay right now. The problem would be in the cases of false fails. The old pvt had significantly more false fails than false passes, so if you pay the $200 and then find out you passed, you are $200 poorer with no way of getting a refund.

Here is another confirmation that the pearson vue trick is not the same. I took the nclex on Tuesday (August 26th) and shortly after I did the pvt. I was in tears when it directed me to the credit card page. I just found out this morning that I PASSED!!! I did not want to risk being charged $200 by submitting the payment so I waited until today and my license is already posted to the Tx BON.

The thing is Now that it'll always take you to the cc page you have submit it and then you'll get the good pop up but I saw a post where some ppl said it accepted their money and some didn't and got the msg

I took the risk of the $200 by hitting submit and got the good pop-up.. Im in cali so i dont get the quick results

So if you submit the $200 - and get the good pop up...do you get charged the $200 if you passed?

Well i dont know if i for sure passed since im in Cali.. but i got the good pop-up and did not get charged

Not a single person on this forum who has input a cc number failed. Not one. One person got to the credit card page (but did not input number), and failed.

The screens are the same, pass or fail. Until someone actually has a charge go through, and then actually fails, and this happens enough times to conclude that there is a 'trick', there is absolutely no merit in believing this trick works.

I'm in California - I'm wanting to try the trick if there still is one (or a new one). I took NCLEX yesterday

Okay - well I took a big chance too for curtain #1 and $200, and input my cc number and pressed submit... I got "our records indicate you have recently scheduled this exam and another registration cannot be made at this time". So, hopefully I passed. I guess I will know soon when the California BRN (Breeze) website is updated in the next day or two...

Believe or not look on the forums here about the new pvt there are cases of people who submitted their money and it went through and they were taken to the recipe page
