Hello everyone!
I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!
I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.
Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.
I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!
But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!
After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!
Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.
This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.
I took my nclex lpn earlier today at 8am july 13 2015 and it shut off at 210 i think and after the exam i went home and immediately do the trick and they charged me $200 is that means i failed? Im so upset right now 😢ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
The max questions for PN is 205 you can't have 210. The likelihood of a false "trick result" is greatest when attempted before 24 hours. You may have failed. You may not have. You cannot try the trick again since you created a duplicate exam registration. If you passed you donated a non refundable $200 to PV. If you failed you already paid for your exam. If you are in a quick result state wait 48hrs pay $7.95 for the accurate quick result. Unless you are in CA, you can try checking the BoN website in a day or so.
oh i see. Maybe i made it to the maximum exam i didn't realize the number of question because im too anxious at that time.. So is there any possibility that i may still pass? Ã*½Ã¸“
PVT is a trick, exploitation of a registration glitch. Many that have been charged and ultimately passed or not charged and actually failed attempted the trick before 24hours post exam. It's potentially more accurate after 24 hours. There is always the possibility of a pass, the PVT is a glitch its unofficial and not guaranteed.
From the many recent posts I've read regarding the PVT, for 2015 you must input your credit card information and hit "submit". 2014 may be and appears to have a "pop up" before the cc page. There now is NO pop up, just a message in red lettering with and exclamation point at the top of the page saying you "You have recently scheduled this exam, another registration cannot be made at this time." This message is supposed to be indicative of a passing score on the exam. I took the exam on 7/14/15, still waiting for results. I tried the PVT, but used a different expiration date and got the above red lettered message...hope this is good news, will let you all know my results:-)

Hi fellow nurses or soon to be nurses who are stressing just like I stressed 2 days ago about whether or not the Pearson Vue trick works or not. I am here to say it definitely worked for me just make sure you do it correctly. TRY THE TRICK AT LEAST 24 HOURS AFTER TAKING THE EXAM NO SOONER! If you put your card info and it goes through it means you failed. If you hit submit and get an error page saying "you have already scheduled an exam or something among those lines" you passed! It really does work oh and another tip of advice make sure your finger prints go through ok because you can get a false result due to it. What I mean is that if your finger prints don't read, the pearson vue trick wont work and you'll get the good pop up but then will find out you failed..Avoid yourself that bummer! I also want to share that I got 75 questions that were all multiple choice and select all that apply (around 13 SATA)--no math, hot spots, listening to audio or dragging... I know I thought I failed because that but dont freak out everyone gets a different exam! It is perfectly normal. Good luck guys oh and in case y'all are wondering I used Lipincott Q+A, took the Anderson review(BOSTON MA AREA), and a free trial of question banks on the "U website" which I must say was very good and wish I had heard sooner about it. Good luck guys and let me know if you have any questions. Fell free to email me at [email protected] :)
what do you mean by that? how do we even know if we did the fingerprint right or wrong?another tip of advice make sure your finger prints go through ok because you can get a false result due to it. If you put your card info and it goes through it means you failed.
Except when it doesn't. Test charges have been made for people who have passed. When you're willing to offer Pearson Vue a credit card, sometimes they take it. Bad info.
If you hit submit and get an error page saying "you have already scheduled an exam or something among those lines" you passed!
Except when you don't. It's true that MOST of the time, you'd be right. But there are enough instances of the opposite to warrant caution.

Patently false. Anytime a finger/palm scan doesn't register on the first scan, it triggers an incident report. In those cases, a "hold" is placed on the exam results (PASS OR FAIL) until a Quality Assurance review can be done to determine validity of the exam. You don't get a "good pop up", you get a "results on hold" pop up. NOT the same thing. And HAVING a test on hold doesn't indicate one way or the other if the test will be a pass or fail. Bad info. And no one can "avoid" a scan not registering well on the first attempt; it is what it is with the equipment itself. Hardly the fault of the test-taker.

The presence or absence of any type of question, any format of question (SATA, math, etc) is NOT any indication whatsoever of how anyone is doing, or whether they passed or failed the exam. Another patently false rumor (that having SATA is indicative of higher level questions, etc). It isn't true.
There is quite a lot of information available via Pearson Vue (the agency that administers the exam nationwide) as well as via NCSBN (the entity that creates/designs the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN). I'd suggest anyone who wants to better understand how all this works go to those websites....or read (very carefully) through threads on AN :)

You can't. Michelle is mistaken. YOU don't do any of it "right or wrong". Sometimes the machine makes a bad read, and another pass is needed to get the scan done. ALL THAT MEANS is that you should expect to see that your test results are placed on Hold for a little while, so your exam can be reviewed for security breaches. If you do what YOU ARE supposed to do, there is nothing to worry about.
All we need is more worries placed on people who are anxious enough as it is...
