Hello everyone!
I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!
I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.
Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.
I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!
But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!
After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!
Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.
This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.
My personal story is a roller coaster when it came to the pearson vue trick. I tested in NY on September 23, 2014. This was my 2nd attempt at the nclex. I got to 265 and it was over..... i was DEVASTATED. I wasn't aware of the changes to the pearson website and tried the trick. After signing in and trying to schedule my test it went to the credit card page. I went into a depression and cried. It worked when I took it in may.... i went to the cc page and I failed. Finally after 2 long days I checked my quick results and found out I PASSED and my name is on the NY bon. It's finally over but the trick is out dated guys.
Why are you so defensive? She was solely correcting your semantic related errors in the name of accuracy. Hope you're not a new nurse, normally it takes years before you get that burnt out.
Good to try to help those who do not want to get charged the $200 to either stay away from it, or use a card with insufficient funds(not an invalid cc, invalid exp date nor fudged numbers), but many of your comments come off as bitter and upset. If you are tired of people taking them as such, then change the underlying tone of your message and your quite important warnings will be better received.
Huh? Wow. You seem to think pettiness in picking apart a post regarding semantics is perfectly reasonable; to those of us who have tried over the years to help are perhaps tired of the same people (or sometimes new people) with the same "prove it to me" kind of posts. It's really so very important whether I said "I saw one person who said" rather than "people have said"? Really? THAT, in my opinion, is petty and useless; it's frankly a waste of energy to negotiate "the meaning of the word 'is'" when it's so clearly not the point.
My post was informative, although you say you don't like the tone. That would be a useful criticism IF the REST of your message wasn't so personally insulting and rude. You have the nerve to take the position that my message isn't worded the way YOU would like.....but you are, overall, pretty rude and insulting in many of YOUR posts. Interesting, pot/kettle conversation
I'm not new, I'm not bitter. I'm disappointed when I see people (and yes, that is intended to be plural) arguing over whether a bad outcome affected one person or two, as if this is of consequence, rather than have them absorb the message as intended. You state you find certain sources to be less than credible when those sources state "I have seen...". I do wonder what makes you believe YOU come across as particularly credible? I find many of your posts to be purely argumentative, not offering any new information, just pointing out flaws in others' messages...which does not show you in a good light, just an angry one. I'm sorry for you for that.
Sometimes, it appears people just want to argue. So be it. For them.....I move on.
I see the word "bitter" being tossed around like it's the new Word of the Day on this site, and it does tend to make people defensive, I'll give you that. You will see experienced nurses continue to be on this forum, to continue to attempt to dispel myths that NON-nurses and obviously inexperienced ones continue to spread.
Since you have no use for anything I post, I suggest you hit the 'ignore' function and keep on moving.....that way you won't find yourself angered, or upset, or worked up over something you cannot ever change :)
I see several post on here and confusion about the PVT trick since the update. Based off my experience and those of a few others I personally know here is the deal
when you do the trick you need to put in your CC number and hit submit in order to get a pop up of any kind. Yet be aware if you did not pass you are going to get charged.
For the pop ups it will say you have recently scheduled this exam in red letters this means you passed or
results on hold which mean neither... This is the message I got and passed, I waited till the next day tried the PVT again got the good pop up and an hour later my license was on the BON site. I hope this helps
I did the NEW trick and got the famous our records indicate..... Good pop up :) within 24hr my RN license was posted on the BON I used a old visa gift card just in case I was falsely charged 2 people I know of did this as well and they received a good pop up and passed Hope this helps anxious people sleep tonight :)
I used a old visa gift card just in case I was falsely charged
Except you wouldn't have been falsely charged. You would have been validly charged after filling out an online order form and clicking on a button to consent to the processing of a charge to your card.
Just because you bought something and now don't feel like paying for it doesn't mean the company falsely charged you.
I took the nclex for the third time time, and I naturally freaked because I didn't get the pop up as usual, I felt like I failed again, how horrible is it to tell your family you don't get the good pop up yet again. Anyways tonight I was googling and came upon this thread and started reading, I got cut off at 75 so I'm really hoping for good news, the 1st time in February I cut off at 125. The second time I cut off at 85. So how is it possible to cut off at 75 and fail for a third time? It just can't be!!! I always did the trick and it was never faulty in my case. So now I'll have to pay the quick results because I can't wait a week in agony. I'm praying so hard for a miracle being a single mom and needing a job badly. I did Kaplan the third time, I went really slow in holes of not making any simple mistakes that I would naturally make while rushing!!! I'm so scared, I just wanna know now. In nursing school we had our test results right then and there, we didn't have to wait!

Thank you! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought their response were bitter. I hope you have a wonderful day!
