Pearson Vue Trick--trick no more

Published

Hello everyone!

I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!

I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.

Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.

I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!

But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!

After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!

Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.

This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.

I took the nclex yesterday and found out I passed today! The trick did not work for me! Maybe for others, but it didn't for me! Good luck everyone!

Be more specific

Did you go to the credit card screen AND submit payment? Or you just went to the CC page.

So here is the deal, the PVT does work in it's updated version. I think the update actually made the site more mobile friendly. I have taken the NCLEX 3 times!! Twice before the update, once after the update. Clearly the 1st two times it went straight to the CC page and I paid right away. Ok so here my experience AFTER the update. I went home thinking I failed just like before, put in my CC number and info hit submit and got "Our records indicate you have results on hold" FML!!! So after look up answers to questions I could remember including the last one I had my choices I picked were right. The next morning like a freak I'm look up results on hold. Some on this web site said give it some time and try again. I'm on a road trip and pull over to a Burger King on the side of the road in the middle of no where and try the PVT trick and get the "good pop up-our records indicate you have scheduled this exam" I got so excited I wanted to get on the hood of my car and dance. Yet I'm still not trying to get to excited. Less than an hour later I happen to stumble across my name and license # on the BON!!!;-) I used various things to study along the way, I finAlly paid 50 to use NCSBN and it had everything I needed to pass

I just took the nclex today at 8am.. I got 75 questions. When the computer shut down at 75 i almost cried.! I didn't get any drug calculations! Not even one! It's more on prioritization and select all! I was so nervous and I read about the PVT., I tried it, And I felt so bad when it went to enter credit card! I pressed submit order and it went through! does that mean I failed?? ???

It charged you?! If so, most likely you failed according to what people are saying. If your state participates in quick results, I suggest you pay for it and hopefully you passed. If not, don't give up. You got this!

I see some new members here, so it might be worth saying this again. For you, it might not be "again", it might be new, so.....

There have been people who have paid $200, actually had their card charged, and DID PASS. While they were certainly happy they passed, it's beyond foolish to throw away $200. If you have that kind of money to burn, I'll be happy to have you send me a personal check instead. :)

There have been people who have had their credit cards CANCELLED by the issuing bank because they made multiple authorizations of $200 a pop, several in a row, or within a short time frame. This looks like fraud to the bank (because they can't assume people are actually willingly giving $200 multiple times for the same thing in a short time). When they think fraud....your card is toast.

Can you post the link that somebody was charged and passed because I've read many post but haven't seen somebody who actually got charged and passed. Also, there was ONE person's card who got deactivated due to suspicious activity ... Not people, making it seem like there were multiple.

I'm sorry, there's absolutely NO WAY I'm going to sift through what must be several hundred posts and several dozen threads by now on this topic, to find the one that you would like to see as proof. Have I seen it? YES. If that's not enough for you, so be it.

And if one person having his/her credit card deactivated makes the very idea of it happening again impossible to you, well.....that's how you see it. Perhaps I should have said "one person" instead of "people". And that was one person who chose to put his/her story up; I've no doubt there are others who felt stupid enough to NOT post it and try to help someone else out.

Yeesh! Was just trying to help those who might not know.......oh well.

Why are you so defensive? She was solely correcting your semantic related errors in the name of accuracy. Hope you're not a new nurse, normally it takes years before you get that burnt out.

As for if its happened to anyone, I've read people say so, but no one credible. Just people who post it didn't work (most likely they didn't do it correctly), or people who post their card was denied and hence must have meant they failed (when they actually passed) as it was trying to charge it, however they put in an invalid CC number in the first place so it was obviously going to get denied regardless if it was about to charge you or not.

As for could that happen, absolutely, it even happened in its old incarnation, sometimes on the second grading your test grade changes. However it is unlikely for sure that it has happened to many people, hence continuously saying it has without showing proof will continue to be met with skepticism. Without a doubt the results here and elsewhere are way too positively correlational in order to not be statistically significant. But try not to be so bitter about it solely because you and others were claiming the trick is dead when its exactly as accurate as beforehand. You were wrong, move on.

Good to try to help those who do not want to get charged the $200 to either stay away from it, or use a card with insufficient funds(not an invalid cc, invalid exp date nor fudged numbers), but many of your comments come off as bitter and upset. If you are tired of people taking them as such, then change the underlying tone of your message and your quite important warnings will be better received.

As for everyone who keeps asking if the trick does not work when it says results not available under status, no that makes no difference. Only time the trick is not working is when you get a popup saying it wont charge you after you put ur cc info in and it says that your results are on hold. This occasionally happens for whatever reason and you will have to try again at a later time.

Thank you! ill check on Monday. If I failed I'll be depressed for like 10 mins then get over it next I'll study harder for my nxt test!then if I passed I'll update.:)

Hello...writing from the state of California...I took my NCLEX RN on 8/26/14 at 2pm here in California. Screen shut off at 75 questions and out of the testing center in 40 minutes. Immediately after testing, I came home and tried to reregister. Pearson Vue does not say Delivery Successful like it had before. The status of the exam now reads RESULT NOT AVAILABLE even for my NCLEX PN I took 4 years ago and passed that did read DELIVERY SUCCESSFUL prior to the new update. The interface and format of Pearson Vue has changed and has been recently updated in August of 2014. Anyways, after I took my NCLEX RN Pearson Vue took me all the way to the Credit Card page and I did input my Credit Card Information because even if I failed, I wanted to repay to take the exam anyways. It made me submit my credit card. However, on the last step it blocked me saying "Our Records Indicate...." and did not charge my card. On August 28th, 2014 at 5am my name was up on CA BREEZE RN Website. I am a RN. My classmates have also tried this trick and has worked for them even after the new update in August 2014. Regardless if you passed or failed, you will need to input your credit card info now. If you passed you will recieve an error message with an exclamation point at the top of the page saying Our records indicate you have recently scheduled this exam . Another registration can not be made at this time only after you submit your credit card. versus the traditional "good pop up" So again, if you passed NO CHARGE....if you failed it WILL BE CHARGED...

Hello, you said that your name appeared @ CA BREEZE RN website. Does this really mean you passed? And does it really have to show your license number in it or just a name would confirm that you pass? Pls explain. Thank you.

Okay, let me be a current experiment to this. I took my test yesterday at 8am. September 25, 2014. I was riding cloud 9 when it cut off at 75. I did the "trick" and it let me pay. Now looking at my cc statement, no money has been processed so I will update asap. **frazzled**
