Hello everyone!
I took the NCLEX RN last Aug 23, 2014 at 8AM. It was my first take on the exam, and was understandably anxious (and scared) to start and get over with it. We arrived an hour and a half before the start time. I checked-in and was assisted by a fine, old gentleman. I got to start the exam earlier than scheduled (they allow it, as long as you are checked-in, you can immediately start). The tutorial sort of calmed my nerves but to my surprise I was trembling when I started reading the first question! It really helped a lot that you have control on your pacing, so I got comfortable as the exam went on. And so it was, my exam stopped after the 75th question. I finished the tutorial, exam and survey in two hours. OMG! Either I passed or failed miserably fast!
I have been reading about the pearson vue trick, how it works, etc. I planned to check on it an hour after the exam. I logged on to the pearson vue website and got the "good" pop-up. Oh my was I on cloud nine. Thank you Lord! Of course, I checked again after an hour or so, and still I got the good pop-up.
Now, it so happens that that day August 23, 2014, there was a scheduled website maintenance from 5:00-11:00PM CDT. True enough I couldn't access the site during those times. But the stubborn in me still couldn't resist checking the site after the said schedule. So I logged in again, but this time, pearson vue had a new "interface", the old one had the register option on the left. The new website had a "START THE REGISTRATION PROCESS" button right in the middle of the page.
I did try to register again, and do the pearson vue trick again. I answered the questions, etc...and then when I pressed the Next button, praying I would still get the "good" pop-up (to reaffirm my "unofficial" passing result), alas, it went straight to the credit card page!!! I felt shivers in my spine, OMG! "Does this mean I failed?", I thought. I was in denial. I thought, it probably was because they updated the website, after all, I still got the "good" pop-up before the scheduled maintenance. I guess I was just convincing myself at that point. I tried again and again and still went straight to the cc page, I was devastated. It didn't help that my result wasn't available that whole weekend. It was agonizing! Did I pass, did I fail? Waaaaaahhhhh!!
But then thank God for quick results, it was available this morning! I was ambivalent to check because I didn't know how would I react. But of course, I'm not the type who prolongs the agony. I went ahead and paid $7.95 and then the result was available on the next page... I PASSED!!! Praise the Lord!
After I finally got the "unofficial" passing result. I tried again to register for the exam...and still it lead to the cc page, even if I already passed!
Hence, based on my experience, the Pearson Vue trick cannot tell anymore whether you pass or fail after AUGUST 23, 2014. Even if you passed or failed, it will still let you start a registration process and lead you to the cc page. Thus, no more so-called "Pearson Vue Trick". I don't know if this is temporary or permanent, but what I know is that it changed when they had that website maintenance. Its sad that we can't rely anymore on this "trick" to reduce our anxiety and get a "quicker" "unofficial" result.
This just means that future takers of the NCLEX RN would have to rely on the "quick results" option (48 hours after the exam) or wait for their official results in the mail to know for sure what their result is.
I took NCLEX today (2nd attempt) and it cut off at 105. Had all 265 1st attempt. Had plenty of SATA and "place the steps in order" questions. Went all the way through the CC page and hit submit. Got the message of 'Our records indicate you have recently registered for this test...(not verbatim)....does this mean I have passed? Please someone let me know.
Ok, so I've taken the NCLEX twice so I've experienced both screens. First time, the A/C kicked on just after I passed around 80 or so Q's and blasted so hard that I was shivering in my seat. My hands felt like they were dipped in snow so I would put them under my arms between each Q. I was shivering so much that I couldn't think at all. I had to read each Q & A's 5 times before I could even attempt to answer. I got all 265 Q's in 5 grueling hours. I began thinking I should intentionally fail just so I could leave that room but I stuck it out. Got home and tried the trick. You HAVE to put your cc info in and SUBMIT. Simply getting to the cc page means nothing. It took me to a receipt page and I almost immediately got an email of my receipt. I figured that submitting the payment wasn't a big deal because I would need to take it again anyway if I failed. Two days later (I'm in FL), results on the BON site listed me as failed. It took a few more days before it showed up on Pearson.
Fast forward to yesterday, Sept. 20, 2014, it cut off somewhere around 126 Q's. I felt like the Q's were getting easier, which I've always been told that's a bad sign. But at the same time, I didn't feel like I was missing the easy Q's. No math, several drag and drop and SATA. The website was down for maintenance for a while but I tried on my phone as soon as it was back up. Got the "good pop up" ("Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time.) instead of being taken to a receipt page. Have to suffer through a Sunday before the BON posts results but there is definitely a difference between definitely failing and my second try. I tried to attach a screenshot of the "good pop up" but this site wouldn't let me. I've read several threads on here and no one has ever said they got the "good pop up" and then actually failed. I will be shocked and devastated if I'm the first.
As for people saying there's no "trick," yes, you're right. All that is happening is that when people try to reregister, if they failed it will let them go ahead and pay for the re-exam. If it won't let you pay, it's simply because there's no need to because you passed. I know some people have said that it let them pay and then they ended up passing. Probably a glitch, but it hasn't happened with people who got the good pop up so far. So this "trick" seems to be more reliable for people who passed than for people who potentially failed. I will update when I get my officials results.
I took NCLEX this past Saturday. I tried the PVT that afternoon and again yesterday (Sunday) and again just now...Monday morning. All three times I get the good pop up. Yet when I call our states automated phone number and/or do a license look up on our states BON it doesn't show I am licensed. Am I trying to early?

Probably. It's unlikely the BoN updates on a weekend. Try late Monday or Tuesday. Which state ? Some take a week to update licenses post NCLEX.
Since this new PV update has anyone followed through with the CC info got the "our records indicate you have already scheduled this exam..... "In red but actually found out they failed. Everyone who has tried this since they updated it w/in the last month is saying when they saw that they passed, but not if someone had seen that and failed.
Nursegrad123 - Of all the threads I've read on the "trick," no one has ever said that they got the good pop up and ended up failing. Some have gotten the "records on hold" pop up and have been confused, thinking it was the good pop up, but that wasn't the case. As long as it says you've already scheduled the exam, etc., it means you passed.
I'm taken the NCLEX tomorrow for the 3rd....never thought I would be a repeat taker but here I am. Never the less of course the PVT trick has always been accurate, but this is the first time I'm taking it since the update. A friend of mine took it on Sept 4, 2014 and got the big red statement. She passed as that is the new good pop up. I just wanted to make sure that wasn't also the bad pop up now. Thanks for the advice

When you did this, did your account status say "delivery successful"? Mine says "Results not available".
