Hi Everyone,
First, I just want to thank everyone that comes to this website to share his or her experience. This website literally keeps people alive and going during some tough times. You might not know it, but there are tens of people out there that quote this website each day.
My journey with the Nclex-RN in California started on the 2th of December. I took the Nclex, I went home and tried the PVT, and it gave me the good pop-up. 24 hours and 4 days later, I was still getting the good pop-up. A week passed and no result or license, I was anxious to say the least, as some of my classmates got their license within 48 - 72 hours after taking the exam.
I always came to this website to get some courage as the weeks rolled by. Finally on 31st of December, I got my license. The long wait was over.
My main reason of writing today is that through my experience, I found out that the pearson vue trick is not a trick. It is the way the computer is programmed. If one fails the Nclex, it will take your money or decline your card accordingly (for insufficient funds or being invalid). The so called trick works perfectly.
Secondly, If you live in California, and you get the good pop-up after 24 hours of taking the Nclex, you passed. The waiting time has to do with the BRN taking so much time to process files. Keep strong and keep faith, you will get your license.

If you've read the posts saying you need to wait 24 hours.....and you did not.....all you know is that PV took your money.
Maybe you failed on your first scoring, and your second will be a pass. You will be out $200. Maybe your first score was a pass, but Pearson Vue charged you anyway----this IS HAPPENING, as has been discussed with some frequency. The charge is non-refundable yet you submitted the payment....whether or not you need another registration won't matter as you've bought one.
With luck, I hope for your sake, it's just an expensive lesson and you will still have passed the exam in the end.
Good luck!
Thank you RnsRwe. I wasn't fully aware of that because I just came here from a foreign country and graduated last year. I was so devastated when I stumbled upon a site saying the PVT is accurate. I was crying almost the whole night not eating nor sleeping. It was horrible. Thank you for your info. I also got that info from some of my review mates. Now.... Im still looking forward that I passed (which I will kne in a matter of 24hrs) and that pearson just took my money. I stopped at 85. I wouldn't stop there for a reason... I did my best.....

You did your best, that's all you can do. People oftentimes forget the PVT is really a trick; much like any carnival sideshow fortune-teller, sometimes it will get it right....and sometimes wrong. It isn't "accurate", it's ....a trick.
Hopefully you passed and will be done with it! If not, well, you'll get the notification of what you didn't do so well in and you can formulate a plan from there. Can't say just yet, so will keep happy thoughts going ?
RNsRWe said:With increasing frequency, people who ultimately find out they passed have had a 'card declined' message when they used a card with insufficient funds. Doesn't necessarily mean a failure, it means Pearson Vue 'tests' the validity of the card (whether or not a charge is needed, whether or not the exam was passed). But congrats on your passing it ?
I took my RN NCLEX today for the second time. It started at about 7:45 and ended at 10:00 am when the computer shut off at 181 questions. I had 23 SATA, 2 drag and drops, 3 charts exhibits, no cardiac strips, no med calcs, no hot spots. I had a lot of OB, Priority, and a lot of meds that I had no clue what they were. I convinced myself to do the PVT with my card but put in the wrong expiration date. This was about two hours after I finished when I got home. I got the pop up after submitting my info that said my security code was incorrect and to contact my issuer. Which of course devastated me. But then I started reading this thread and I have come to realize that not only do they score the test twice, but that sometimes using the card with the wrong info can give a so called "bad pop-up". I am praying for a pass here and I also realize that I did the PVT way to soon. Thanks for giving me some hope that I still have a chance!
SouthDakotaRN said:I took NCLEX RN and attempted the PVT - I had read on here to put in an incorrect expiration date, and if it asked for the correct card number apparently it meant you failed. Well I had gotten the "bad" pop up. I was devastated and convinced I failed miserably (75). I got my results today and I actually passed! So my advice to everyone is to wait it out or pay for the quick results!
I took mine today and someone suggested using my card but putting in the wrong expiration
Date. She had done the same thing three weeks prior and she got the good pop up. I tried that and got the pop up that said the security code was invalid, and I need to check my card info or call my credit card issuer which i assume meant i failed. also i wasn't aware that they score you twice. So it is best to at least wait 24 hrs or wait for quick results. This post gives me hope that i may still have a chance at a pass. Thank you!
Me too. I stopped at 85. Tried that pvt and went all the way thats why I got charged 200$. And then I got devastated and depressed (double kill) but still Im hoping for the best because a lot of the told me about the problem reharding pvt and that I will pass. We can do this! Lets just wait for the quick results!!!!!! We will pass!!!!
To add to the discussion, I took my NCLEX RN Monday. I did the PVT using the wrong security code and expiration and got the "good popup". I did this after taking the test, and 24 hours later. I got the quick results today that I passed, so it does work, just use an invalid expiration so you don't run the risk of losing 200 bucks.

Please read some of the other threads on this topic, and you will see why losing $200 isn't really the primary problem....it's the fact that the attempt to charge is randomly made, leaving people to believe they have failed and they passed.
No one wants to lose money, obviously, but oftentimes just to add insult to injury is when they see 'card declined' (invalid card info) and they think they have bombed the test. Heartbreaking, I'm sure you can see.

Maybe you did or maybe you just donated $200 to Pearson Vue. Why oh why did you try it before 24 hours after you tested? I'm sure you've read the hundreds (thousands?) of posts that tell you to wait because the test is scored twice and the first score may not be accurate!!!!!!!!It would have been so much cheaper to just pay the 8$ for the quick results. Either way, best of luck to you.
