Relocating to Houston area after NCLEX
You don't need to take the NCLEX in Texas, you need to apply to the state board and register your test for Texas. You can take it anywhere. Case in point: two of my classmates were moving to California right after school. They didn't bother registering for the Texas board, they registered directly for the California board, took the NCLEX before they left, and got licensed directly by the California board. As far as the Houston area, if you want to work in a hospital you will most likely have to apply for an internship. They are competitive, but there are a ridiculous amount of them in the area. Luckily you are getting your BSN, because right now, ADN's aren't going to cut it in Houston.

Male student enters OB room. What do you think?
I'm very confused about this scenario. During my OB rotation the RN's introduced themselves and asked if it was OK for me to go in. I was a male student. If they said yes, I went in and observed. I did Foley catheters, cut the cord, and watched the labor. I also observed C-section births as well. If they said "no", I took another assignment.

Pearson Vue Trick 2015 Latest
I realize this. I also realize that the PVT isn't foolproof. It's better than sitting there for weeks wondering if you did or didn't pass, like I had to do in 2005 for my LVN. The suggestion to use an invalid expiration is to prevent people from being charged if it doesn't work for them.

Help! I have to precept a new grad who already knows it all....but not really.
People like this are dumb, plain and simple. I just got licensed as an RN today, but I have a job lined up in an oncology ICU. I have also been an LVN for 10 years, but you best believe I'm going to learn everything I can from my preceptor when I start working. There is such a big difference between my role as an LVN and what I will be expected of as an RN that I know I will be doing myself, my patients, and my coworkers a disservice if I go in there thinking I know it all. He doesn't even have the background of a licensed nurse to fall back on, and I would frankly be afraid to let him off of orientation if he doesn't change his attitude.

RN pay rate on experience vs education
In the city I work in, good luck finding a job in other than sub-acute or nursing home environments if you don't have your BSN. It isn't even a matter of pay difference anymore, it's a matter of finding a job you like.

Buying Scrubs
Uniform advantage has good scrubs for men. They have their own brand that is very similar to Cherokee for a fraction of the price. It is an online site.

To add to the discussion, I took my NCLEX RN Monday. I did the PVT using the wrong security code and expiration and got the "good popup". I did this after taking the test, and 24 hours later. I got the quick results today that I passed, so it does work, just use an invalid expiration so you don't run the risk of losing 200 bucks.

Requirements for Army nursing
I graduate at the end of April with my BSN, and I would like to commission in the Army. I served previously for 12 years enlisted as an LVN, but got out to go to nursing school. When I got out, I was told that I would have to either get a really good GPA or have 2 year's worth of experience as an RN. I really would like to continue my military career ASAP if possible, but I can't find any current information.

Pre-req online?
Rio Salado has all of the lab sciences, to include A&P 1 and 2. That's who I took mine through.

Houston campus fall 2013
There is an interview with an admissions counselor. If I were you I would call the campus tomorrow to schedule it as soon as you can. I was very encouraged at how professional my advisor was, and how well the process went. I ended up taking my HESI and doing my interview on the same day, since I am active duty military stationed 4 hours away from campus.

Are there any online LPN or LVN programs
If you look around, there are no pre-licensure programs that are fully online. The only ones that I have seen that come close are Excelsior's ADN program, Indiana's LPN-BSN program, WGU, and Texas A&M's eline program. Even with these programs, there is an on-site clinical aspect to them and you have prior medical experience (WGU is the exception, but you need an associates or bachelor's degree with all science courses completed). Put it this way, do you think having a licensing program that doesn't have any type of hands on component to it would be a good thing for the profession, or would it make it harder to get hired as an LPN?

You should as long as everything is in, I.E., transcripts, HESI, application. From what I understood, they have their admissions committee meeting at least once per month. I know my next step is to meet with the enrollment advisor, get my plan of study set up, and do the background and drug screens. Luckily my financing is already taken care of since I have my post-911 GI bill to use, and they are a yellow ribbon school.

LPN...not good enough??
Please realize that the nursing profession is trying their hardest to get rid of us, period. There are places in the country where you cannot get a job if you are an LPN in anything other than a nursing home. The end goal is to try have the BSN be the entry level for nursing, as can be seen with the push for "magnet" status hospitals requiring only BSN level nurses. What the people trying to make this push don't realize is that if they do this, they are going to create a nursing shortage crisis, as most BSN programs are extremely difficult to get in.

Houston campus fall 2013
It was about 3 weeks from going down and taking the HESI. What took awhile was getting my transcripts sent in. I sent for them prior to taking the HESI, and they just barely got them in on time for last week's committee meeting.
