Hi Everyone,
First, I just want to thank everyone that comes to this website to share his or her experience. This website literally keeps people alive and going during some tough times. You might not know it, but there are tens of people out there that quote this website each day.
My journey with the Nclex-RN in California started on the 2th of December. I took the Nclex, I went home and tried the PVT, and it gave me the good pop-up. 24 hours and 4 days later, I was still getting the good pop-up. A week passed and no result or license, I was anxious to say the least, as some of my classmates got their license within 48 - 72 hours after taking the exam.
I always came to this website to get some courage as the weeks rolled by. Finally on 31st of December, I got my license. The long wait was over.
My main reason of writing today is that through my experience, I found out that the pearson vue trick is not a trick. It is the way the computer is programmed. If one fails the Nclex, it will take your money or decline your card accordingly (for insufficient funds or being invalid). The so called trick works perfectly.
Secondly, If you live in California, and you get the good pop-up after 24 hours of taking the Nclex, you passed. The waiting time has to do with the BRN taking so much time to process files. Keep strong and keep faith, you will get your license.
RNsRWe said:Congrats on passing! But why would you risk losing $200 by doing the PVT WAAAYYY too early? Doing it again at 24 hours only increased the chance that you'd lose that money.
Because I believed the computer is programmed to pass or fail.I don't think the 24 hrs rules is true or there is still second counting.I mean the rule is basic if you reach your level of competency the comp shuts off. I don't think they are not programmed to shut off and say ok let's tally your score for the second time.

Your "belief" would be completely incorrect. It's not a rumor, it's a fact that is stated on the NCSBN's website. As the NCLEX is THEIR test....I'm pretty sure they know it's true, too
Your computer shuts off when it does because the computer has determined to a 95% certainty (Confidence Interval) that you have either demonstrated competency or incompetency, and no further questions are needed.
However, EVERY exam is reviewed for Quality Assurance purposes, and YES, absolutely I am truthful when I tell you that there ARE times (and enough times to have it be noted and cautioned) that an anomaly is caught, and the original CI is deemed incorrect.
When that happens, someone whose initial test shut off at say, 156 questions for example, might be done because the computer has deemed them 'fail'. But upon review, it CAN be deemed 'pass'. It's those instances when someone does the PVT too early (exactly as you did) and pays $200 (or doesn't pay, as they used a fraudulent card submission, but is still devastated that they got the 'bad pop up'). And THEN comes back to say that the PVT was "wrong", because they passed (and are out money, or were freaking out for two days for no reason). Was the PVT "wrong"? NO. The person who did it too early didn't heed this warning, or.....like you....didn't believe it to be true. The reverse situation is also true; an initial result of 'pass' that has someone jumping for joy because of the 'good pop up' may turn out, ultimately, to be a 'fail'. I remember one poor soul who had to then call back an employer to turn down a job she had just accepted, and deal with the humiliation of telling everyone she had told about being A NURSE....that she was not.
I'm not steering you wrong, honest ?

Yes, it is, and PLEASE promise me you won't do it again...just to see if it stays that way? If you do, you only up the odds on Pearson Vue TAKING your money, whether or not you pass.
From this....stay happy with yourself and think positive thoughts until you get official results ?
Just wanted to share my experience that the trick DOES work!! I unfortunately failed the exam my first time, I came home feeling defeated but tried to remain optimistic while trying the trick and got the bad pop up. I retested last week feeling 100x more confident.... tried the trick and got the good pop up. Today, I paid for quick results to see PASS, and just recently my license number is on the Board of Nursing site. The trick works! And quick results are accurate.
TIP: You do have to put in your credit card and hit submit before you get a pop up, so I used a prepaid Visa with insufficient funds. (When I tried this card and had failed, it said Card declined. I used the same card this time, and got the good pop up message!!!)
Good Luck to all.

With increasing frequency, people who ultimately find out they passed have had a 'card declined' message when they used a card with insufficient funds. Doesn't necessarily mean a failure, it means Pearson Vue 'tests' the validity of the card (whether or not a charge is needed, whether or not the exam was passed).
But congrats on your passing it ?
