So this is my second time taking the NCLEX RN exam and the first time I tried the PVT and got the credit card declined message which was heartbreaking especially after taking the entire 265 questions. Sure enough two days later I got the quick results with a big FAT FAIL. I just took the boards today August 15th 2015 and immediately check d the PVT as I had an accurate instance last time but this time I got the good message or popup. Of course I am still paranoid so I am waiting for the 24 hour deadline before I check again then I'm gonna check the unofficial results at the 48hour mark. I have been checking non stop almost every hour since I completed the exam and keep getting no the good pop up. I will keep everyone updated.

you just can't use a valid credit card... I mean it's worth a shot but isn't worth $200 verse $7.95. Me on the other hand after failing it once the two day waiting period feels like a lifetime so I'm gonna give the PVT a shot since it was accurate for me the first time and so far six hours after finishing the exam it was still showing the good pop up for now. I heard stories about people checking immediately after and finding a good pop up then an hour later getting the bad pop up. I'll check tomorrow once more at the 24 hour mark and will breath a little easier then if I still get the good pop up then will check for sure Monday. Fingers crossed!

But why do it at all? None of what you said justifies it. I would rather wait 2 days to make 100% sure I passed rather than do a trick & then still be stressed. But to each their own.
Im from California and we do not get quick results. I took the NCLEX PN and the PVT worked for me and I used a valid credit card but wrong expiration date and name. You are supposed to wait 48 hours. It is supposed to take you to the cc page whether you fail or not. When I go to cc page I put in the information as described, and I got the good pop up. When I put the incorrect card information in, it said it needed valid credit card information or what not. Well today I got my letter 3.5 weeks later. I passed. Thank you Jesus. It worked for me, and helped ease my nerves.

I agree with you 100%. I waited the 48 hours and didn't bother with PVT. I knew I'd never be able to trust it either way. Was it a long wait? Yes. But I lived
I had 2 classmates take NCLEX on the same day. One finished in 170 questions and the other in 78. Both did PVT the same day. One got the "good" pop up (170 questions) and the other got the "bad" (79 questions). Both of them failed the exam. I don't put much stock in PVT. It doesn't relieve any anxiety because you'll sit there and doubt it's true. Either you'll be devastated with the "bad" pop-up or not feel secure with the "good" one. It's just not worth it, even if you use an invalid card.
OP: Wait 48 hours and pay the $7.95 to know 100% for sure that you passed. It's the best $7.95 you'll ever spend when you find out you passed. Stop torturing yourself with PVT.
I would just wait and pay for quick results. I tried the PVT and was paranoid the whole time, nothing eased my anxiety. I did pass but thinking about PVT made me even more stressed. My friend did the PVT so many times his card got shut off (they didn't charge him but it goes to show that PVT can ATTEMPT to charge you). Just relax and try to get your mind off the exam. Good luck!
When I took the NCLEX (4 years ago...wow), I didn't know about the PVT trick. But to be honest, if it costs so much to apply and register? Why in the world would you spend so much more as a broke recent college grad to see what you'll know in time? I was even dumb enough to test on a Saturday and waited until Monday for the BoN in my state to either change my listing by assigning a license number or by changing the status from "pending" to "closed" and that I'd have to re-apply. Clearly, I lived under a rock. (shrugs)
It will be what it will be. In 4 years since licensure, I've learned that rarely anything will work the way you want it to consistently. But, it usually works itself out in the best way possible for reasons you cannot imagine. I work with amazing coworkers I never would have had if things had went "as planned" when I graduated. I passed the first try, but didn't get the job I wanted, and for reasons I don't fully comprehend, I am where I am now, and I feel it's where I'm supposed to be.
The reality of it is - nobody really will know if you passed on the first try or not. It won't matter once you pass and it's not like an employer shares that with patients. Some states do post that info (my original state of licensure is one), but until I was in healthcare I didn't really know how to search for people's licensure. In the scheme of things - I don't see why people are so obsessed over it. I know it "matters" for nursing schools, but other than that, nobody gives two hoots.
I wish you and everyone else testing soon the best of luck and hope it all turns out well for you - because it is nice to be done with taking the test.
I took my test July 23, 2015. Did pvt trick as soon as I came out of the building got "good pop up" tried it again two weeks later still "good pop up" but no results I'm approaching the 4 week mark. The waiting game is really intense. Especially, when you have opportunities lined up for you.

I'm guessing CA? Bvnpt takes 4-6 or more weeks to send pass/fail results and the form to pay the licensing fee.
