Pearson "trick" 2017 NCLEX RN

Published

I've been on this site all month reading about the NCLEX and the Pearson vue trick; and I told myself if I passed that I would share my experience! So here I am :)

I graduated December 16, 2016 and signed up to take the NCLEX January 30, 2017. To study, I did the Hurst Review: 3 days live, watched all the videos online, and the 6 Q review exams. I found the Hurst to be a good review of the content, but more importantly the Q review exams helped me to "think like a nurse". My scores were: 63,71,81,80,84,79

When the day of my exam arrived, I still wasn't sure if I was going to try the trick or not.. but I ended up doing it as soon as I got to my car lol. To me, the exam was extremely difficult and I felt like I was getting them all wrong. I was also worried because I only got like 10 select alls.. however, I knew that I got the last question right, which I heard was an indication that you passed. Nevertheless, the screen went blue after 110 questions (took about 2 hours) and I felt horrible.

I went to my car and pulled out my debit card to re-register (changing the exp. date and security code) and when I hit submit the first time the pop up wasn't there because you actually have to "view all your info to make sure it's correct" and then hit submit AGAIN to get the pop up. I got the good pop up and couldn't believe it, ugly cried for a good 5 minutes, and checked the board of nursing website the next day at 9am and PASSED.

I find it funny that when I didn't see the pop up at first - it was like a death sentence, but once I actually got it - I was skeptical of its legitimacy lol. Everyone in my graduating class who has gotten the pop up has passed (at least 10 of us so far). Some people suggest waiting, but I tried it literally like 15min after I was done testing and it worked.

My advice would be just to study and don't give yourself any reason to feel regret once you sit in front of that computer; know that you did everything you could do to prepare and you can do it!

Best of luck to future RNs!

Hi everyone. I'm kind of a nervous wreck so forgive me if I'm asking a question that has been asked a million times already. I took the nclex RN today at 8:20. My exam shut off at 75 at 9:08. I did the PVT at 10:30 & I got "the good pop up". This was my second time taking it & last time, it let me pay for a new registration the same day. Is there a chance that I may have failed despite the good pop up? Any words of advice? I'm gunna go crazy waiting for the next 48 hours. Thanks!

There is always a chance. Try to do it again after 24 hours and see what it says. If you still get the good pop up then you most likely passed. The only thing that is 100% is your BON posting your license. Try to keep your mind off of it, stay busy. I nearly drove myself insane. Hope you pass.

Took my NCLEX yesterday afternoon. Got 75 questions and did PVT ~4 hours later with an Amex gift card that had a few bucks left on it. Got the good pop-up. I've done it a few more times since then and still, good pop up.

The wait is agonizing! I live in California, so no "quick results" option for me! :nailbiting:

I took my test yesterday morning and I was really hesitant to try the PVT but I did. I got the "good" pop up that states, "our records indicate that you have already scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." I would really like to believe I passed but has anyone ever got the good pop up and failed?

I also tried the pearson vue trick and to my surprise it was accurate. I graduated in 2012 but because of life I did not take my NCLEX until December 2016. I had almost all alternate format such as SATA, fill in the blank, place in order, etc. After 45 minutes my test shut off at 75 questions, I panicked as most do and felt that there was no way I passed. Within a few hours I was on pearson vue and given the pop up that said I could not re-register. I got my official results 48 hours later and couldn't have been more thrilled...I passed! The trick was successful for me.

My quick results posted in about 36 hours, I live in Iowa. My name was placed on the BON website approximately 48 hours after testing.

It worked for me - took NCLEX Fri 2/3 at 10 am, finished before 11 a, drove home and checked around 11:30 and got good pop-up. Did it again on 2/4 in the afternoon and still good pop up. My license posted at 1 am on 2/7 with an issue date of 2/6.

Took my exam Wednesday 2/8/2017 was sure I failed at 263. I felt good at first, then around 100 I got demoralized. By 263 I was a zombie and just reaching for 265 and just wanted it to be over. Did the PVT 30mins later when I got home. Changed my card number exp etc. Got a card declined message. I was devastated knew I failed. Then after 1 hr I couldn't take it and wanted to make sure. So I transferred my money into savings. I put in all correct information. Got the good pop-up!!! So I hear BON in TX updates Tues & Thurs at 9am so I pray I will see my license today Thursday! Also I must add my friend took her exam after 2pm got the bad popup it tried to take the money. BUT she passed. So if you do not get the good pop up just wait the 48hrs and be positive!

What is this pearsons trick you guys are talking about? Just curious so when I take the NCLEX i'll know :)

Pearson vue trick is something that is supposed to give you a good idea of if you pass NCLEX or not. The theory goes that after completing your NCLEX exam you log onto the pearson vue website (this is the website/company you register with for taking the exam) Once logged in you will attempt to register for your NCLEX exam again, re entering all information including credit card info. If the website gives you a pop up saying something to the effect of "you are unable to register at this time" then it is supposed to be an indication you passed. If on the other hand it takes all your info and allows you to re register then you have not passed. Many say this is accurate and it was so for me, buuut there are instances I have heard of it where this "trick" is not accurate. Such as allowing people to re register when they have passed or not allowing when they have failed. There is quite a few different websites that discuss it, and quite a few post on here as well if you want more info.

Very good to know! Thanks for answering my question NurseLife88 :)

I took mines this past friday and I have yet to get my result. I tried the trick think, it would not show my school code so therefore, i cant register. I am hoping and praying that this is a good sign. Thanks for the post.
