Pearson "trick" 2017 NCLEX RN

Published

I've been on this site all month reading about the NCLEX and the Pearson vue trick; and I told myself if I passed that I would share my experience! So here I am :)

I graduated December 16, 2016 and signed up to take the NCLEX January 30, 2017. To study, I did the Hurst Review: 3 days live, watched all the videos online, and the 6 Q review exams. I found the Hurst to be a good review of the content, but more importantly the Q review exams helped me to "think like a nurse". My scores were: 63,71,81,80,84,79

When the day of my exam arrived, I still wasn't sure if I was going to try the trick or not.. but I ended up doing it as soon as I got to my car lol. To me, the exam was extremely difficult and I felt like I was getting them all wrong. I was also worried because I only got like 10 select alls.. however, I knew that I got the last question right, which I heard was an indication that you passed. Nevertheless, the screen went blue after 110 questions (took about 2 hours) and I felt horrible.

I went to my car and pulled out my debit card to re-register (changing the exp. date and security code) and when I hit submit the first time the pop up wasn't there because you actually have to "view all your info to make sure it's correct" and then hit submit AGAIN to get the pop up. I got the good pop up and couldn't believe it, ugly cried for a good 5 minutes, and checked the board of nursing website the next day at 9am and PASSED.

I find it funny that when I didn't see the pop up at first - it was like a death sentence, but once I actually got it - I was skeptical of its legitimacy lol. Everyone in my graduating class who has gotten the pop up has passed (at least 10 of us so far). Some people suggest waiting, but I tried it literally like 15min after I was done testing and it worked.

My advice would be just to study and don't give yourself any reason to feel regret once you sit in front of that computer; know that you did everything you could do to prepare and you can do it!

Best of luck to future RNs!

I took my exam today and finished somewhere around 108...I had almost 20 SATA, one math, and no exhibits :(

I tried the PVT almost 2 hours after finishing and I got the good pop up. Not sure if this means anything...

Hi and Congrats!!!! I was wondering if u are from California? I'm saying this bc I take my exam soon and I heard u can't do that trick, so I was wondering if it works anywhere?:)

Also does anyone on here know if this "trick" is the same in California? I know nothing is 100% until you see you name or get your letter, but I did it for my LVN license which was also through Pearson and it worked. I was just told it doesn't for RN.

I took the NCLEX on Saturday 2/11/17 and finished the exam in an hour and twenty minutes. The computer shut off after answering question 85 and I almost lost it. I had a ton of SATA and priority questions, one dose cal, a few exhibits, and a drag and drop. I think I got all possible formats for my exam. When I finished I went outside and lost my breakfast, lol. Needless to say I was complete nervous reck. I felt I bombed this exam completely. After talking myself into doing the PVT, I got the "GOOD POP-UP". I found out today that I am officially a NURSE!!!!!!!!!! Thank you Jesus and Aunt Marlene and the folks over at Hurst Review, LOL. It's been a long, hard road, but I made it. Congrats to everyone who has passed this beast of an exam and if you haven't yet, PLEASE DON'T GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS :-)

I've been seeing a lot of stories on this thread about people who have tried the PVT and having it display accurate results. All I can say is that, do not rely on it because it doesn't work for everyone. I took my NCLEX-RN in the state of Maryland this past Friday (2/10/17). While in the parking lot, I tried the PVT with my actual credit card info, and needless to say, Pearson vue took me all the way to the confirm order screen, literally one click away from ordering a second exam. I didn't see any disclaimer. No pop-up. Nothing like "Our records indicate that you have already scheduled this exam. another exam cannot be scheduled at this time" I felt so discouraged that I didn't even want to order the quick results in two days. However, 2 days later I got curious and decided to order the quick results and it said that I PASSED!! I was in so much shock and disbelief because not only was the exam torture for me, I was convinced that the PVT indicated that I failed.

Lesson learned. don't rely on the pearson vue trick. It's called a "trick" for good reason!!

I took it in California and did the PVT right when I got home, it took $200 from me. Has anybody gotten charged and still passed? My school administrator said PVT is a myth and will take some people's money regardless of the results

You must fully complete the process and click submit, before you get the pop up.

Actually, the popup is supposed to appear on the confirm your order page. (Checkout Step 2- Submit your order) I arrived at that page and didn't receive a pop up. If you DO see a pop up, it will appear on that page, not the page that shows up after your card has been charged

That's possible. I don't remember each page. I just remember once I hit submit I got a pop up saying my order couldn't be confirmed at this time.

I took my NCLEX on Wednesday, Feb. 15. My test shut off at 75 questions. I felt like it never got to the hard questions. After reading reviews about the pop up I was skeptical but I couldn't resist. I got the pop up! It worked for me. Praise the Lord I am a nurse!

You have to click submit atleast twice. Once after entering your credit card and again to finalize your submission. Thats when you will see the pop up.

How many questions did you get through? just curious - thank you.
