Pearson "trick" 2017 NCLEX RN

Nursing Students NCLEX

Published

I've been on this site all month reading about the NCLEX and the Pearson vue trick; and I told myself if I passed that I would share my experience! So here I am :)

I graduated December 16, 2016 and signed up to take the NCLEX January 30, 2017. To study, I did the Hurst Review: 3 days live, watched all the videos online, and the 6 Q review exams. I found the Hurst to be a good review of the content, but more importantly the Q review exams helped me to "think like a nurse". My scores were: 63,71,81,80,84,79

When the day of my exam arrived, I still wasn't sure if I was going to try the trick or not.. but I ended up doing it as soon as I got to my car lol. To me, the exam was extremely difficult and I felt like I was getting them all wrong. I was also worried because I only got like 10 select alls.. however, I knew that I got the last question right, which I heard was an indication that you passed. Nevertheless, the screen went blue after 110 questions (took about 2 hours) and I felt horrible.

I went to my car and pulled out my debit card to re-register (changing the exp. date and security code) and when I hit submit the first time the pop up wasn't there because you actually have to "view all your info to make sure it's correct" and then hit submit AGAIN to get the pop up. I got the good pop up and couldn't believe it, ugly cried for a good 5 minutes, and checked the board of nursing website the next day at 9am and PASSED.

I find it funny that when I didn't see the pop up at first - it was like a death sentence, but once I actually got it - I was skeptical of its legitimacy lol. Everyone in my graduating class who has gotten the pop up has passed (at least 10 of us so far). Some people suggest waiting, but I tried it literally like 15min after I was done testing and it worked.

My advice would be just to study and don't give yourself any reason to feel regret once you sit in front of that computer; know that you did everything you could do to prepare and you can do it!

Best of luck to future RNs!

Congratulations!

Thank you!!! I would think you would find out Saturday. It should be an automated system.

Took the NCLEX yesterday, came home right away (about 40min) did the PVT, and got the "good pop-up," "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Tried the PVT later again in 3 hour and again at 8pm. All times showed me the same message. Checked again today and nothing has changed. I am anxious to find out if I passed and if PVT actually work. I never received and email after I took my NCLEX. Can't wait for tomorrow to find out the quick results!

That was me! I did PVT almost every 30 minutes the day I took NCLEX and got an email saying that I passed the next morning.

I passed :)! PVT WAS SPOT ON!!!!

I took my NCLEX 2PM, 8/25...much later that night I got the "good" pop-up...didn't trust that at all as I knew I failed it in 75 questions. For some awesome reason, the 48 business-hour wait for Quick Results included the weekend so I just found out a few hours ago (on a Sunday afternoon) that somehow I passed.

"Good" pop-up matched my Pearson Vue "Pass"!

I've been seeing a lot of stories on this thread about people who have tried the PVT and having it display accurate results. All I can say is that, do not rely on it because it doesn't work for everyone. I took my NCLEX-RN in the state of Maryland this past Friday (2/10/17). While in the parking lot, I tried the PVT with my actual credit card info, and needless to say, Pearson vue took me all the way to the confirm order screen, literally one click away from ordering a second exam. I didn't see any disclaimer. No pop-up. Nothing like "Our records indicate that you have already scheduled this exam. another exam cannot be scheduled at this time" I felt so discouraged that I didn't even want to order the quick results in two days. However, 2 days later I got curious and decided to order the quick results and it said that I PASSED!! I was in so much shock and disbelief because not only was the exam torture for me, I was convinced that the PVT indicated that I failed.

Lesson learned. don't rely on the pearson vue trick. It's called a "trick" for good reason!!

From your description it sounds like you didn't do the "trick" correctly. Once you put your card information in and click submit it takes you to a screen to confirm and then once you submit that you get the pop up.

Pearson trick works, both ways! I took the exam in DC for a Maryland license with 4 friends from school. I was excited at first because the test cut off at 76 questions and I felt good. On the way home, I started looking up the questions I was unsure about, and I realized at least 8 of the questions I answered were wrong. At this point I was freaking out feeling like I definitely failed. I did the trick and got the good pop-up but didn't feel any relief since I wasn't sure how accurate it really was. I checked with my other friends, two of them got the good pop-up, and the other two did not get the good pop-up, the system let them pay for another test. My two friends that didn't get the good pop-up found out they failed the test two days later via Pearson Vue quick results.

Wrote my test yesterday, the computer shut off at 76 questions. I just tried the PVT, re-registered, filled in the correct cc number, and fake exp date and safety number, and got this I tried twice and both were the same, please tell me it's a good pop-up...

Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time.

I tried twice and had the same results, please tell me it's a good pop-up...
