  1. I just spoke to HR and she reassured me my weight was not an issue. She made a joke saying "If that were the case half the VA staff would be fired" and she laughed, so I feel much better. Thank you for your kind words. I will definitely continue to work on my health.
  2. Graduated in December got my license in February. I am in my 30s. I had a phone interview and have been "hired" by the VA. I say "hired" since the paper work needs to go through the HR department and from what I have been reading on allnurses I will also have a physical with them. I gained so much weight in nursing school. I am considered morbidly obese for my short stature. All those long hours sitting and snacking while studying (I know horrible, what will my pts think). I have HTN that is under control and hypothyroidism also under control. I really want this opportunity and I am working on my weight. I am really ashamed of my weight, but it never impeded in my clinicals. All my friends who are already working say I will drop weight fast just as soon as I start working. I am just afraid since they hired me through a phone interview and need to do a physical that this will in any way impede my hiring process. I read somewhere they are looking for injuries, surgeries, drug-use etc. I am just nervous. Any advice to calm my nerves?
  3. 263 in 5 1/2 killing hours! Demoralized thought I failed. I passed!
  4. Took my exam Wednesday 2/8/2017 was sure I failed at 263. I felt good at first, then around 100 I got demoralized. By 263 I was a zombie and just reaching for 265 and just wanted it to be over. Did the PVT 30mins later when I got home. Changed my card number exp etc. Got a card declined message. I was devastated knew I failed. Then after 1 hr I couldn't take it and wanted to make sure. So I transferred my money into savings. I put in all correct information. Got the good pop-up!!! So I hear BON in TX updates Tues & Thurs at 9am so I pray I will see my license today Thursday! Also I must add my friend took her exam after 2pm got the bad popup it tried to take the money. BUT she passed. So if you do not get the good pop up just wait the 48hrs and be positive!
  5. Hey guys good luck on your acceptance letters! Remember to calculate 2-4days for mail time. Also even if you don't get accepted just wait after registration. A lot of people drop out or decline their spot. 26 or 27 was the cut off for Spring 2015. If you get denied and don't make it to registration you will have your own registration. Just remember you BETTER have 3000 saved up for books! Well I'm just finishing up my 1st semester. Just waiting to take the dreaded exit HESI! Again, Good Luck!
  6. https://m.facebook.com/groups/767044863363829?ref=bookmark Just a reminder to all spring 2015 NLC nursing students there is a group of us on Facebook. We all help each other out. Request to join the group. Lots of helpful information and nobody is shy to ask or answer a question.
  7. For all the pre-nursing students applying for the ADN Fall 2015 Program be AWARE that the program requires everything paid upfront. Save $3,000!!! All Books must be bought and must be in hand the 1st day school starts. No Exceptions. The books cost 2,300 which is the biggest chunk of money you'll have to pay. Please be aware of these things. I was not aware of the upfront costs. I thought I could cover schooling with loans and pell grants. I Was Wrong! Yes you will eventually get your Pells and grants but you won't get those before the semester starts except of course book money. I overheard people saying they may have to reapply due to monetary issues. Just be prepared because I wasn't along with so many other students. I scavenged through all of these forums for help and never once did I come across this topic. So I thought I'd prepare the students who are searching these forums for help like I was. Good Luck on applying everybody! Time will pass sooner than you think. Deadline for ya'll is January 31st, 2015!
  8. It is a group on facebook the link must of been erased.
  9. Spring 2015 North Lake College Nursing Program Facebook search to get added to the group. or copy link https://www.facebook.com/groups/767044863363829/
  10. I can make one now if you like that way we can give the Facebook info on this forum and at the meeting.
  11. Idk until November 25th maybe current nursing students can shine some light? What I did personally was go to econnect and browsed the credit classes for the 1st semester of our program (RNSG courses) for this Fall semester and see how their schedule looked like. Looks like we will be doing 6 or 12hr clinicals once a week depending on what hospital or instructor. For the other classes I'm not sure I checked like 3mths ago, but I would definitely browse Fall 2014 RNSG classes to get a feel for what to expect when we start Spring 2015.
  12. Yes just drop it off in the mail slot or it can be mailed, but I'd rather do it personally.
  13. I would email or call one of the staff members for the nursing program. We have until Halloween to return a paper stating we want the spot for spring 2015. At then the mandatory meeting November 25th.
  14. So are any of the NorthLake/El Centro students making a FB pg for Spring 2015 I saw that every semester the new nursing students would make one according to the school they will be attending. It's like a right of passage for being accepted. Lol
  15. Congratulations jBritt!!!!
