When I worked at Cardiology as a Nuclear Stress Assistant. Old lady was undressing, took off her bra and laid down on the bed. I went to connect the leads on her and she cover herself up and said, "I'm sorry you need to see my old lady titties. They are so wrinkly."

While inserting a catheter on an elderly man, almost finished the thing, the patient has been singing at the top of his lungs during the whole thing and at the end, looks down and says "woman! What are you doing down there?!"

"How do you get an STD?" the patient asked me....and I responded "By having intercourse/sex"....not two minutes later a coworker came in and the patient asked her, "How do you get an STD?"...SMH

My PD patient, 95 and intermittently 'with it'...was watching TV. I was doing a crossword puzzle and not paying attention to the TV. Out of the blue (to me anyway) she asked, "Do I have mesothelioma?" ( !?!? ) I said, "Um, no, you don't have mesothelioma, why?" She replied, "That's too bad, they are giving money away if you have it." (ad on TV was for a class-action lawsuit).

I am a Vascular Access RN. I went to see the sweetest little patient. She asked me what I was doing and I explained to her that I was there to start her IV. She asked me how I could do such a painful procedure to people. I explained to her as I had to think about it as I am helping patients get better. And in her sweetest little voice as she was rubbing my arm she said, "Honey, you are so stupid." Yikes!!!

Omg, I hear that one once a week and I crack up every time!

Edited: sorry, forgot to quote! That was in response to the poster who said that they had a patient who apologized for waking the nurse up at night! I think every night nurse hears that once a week at least!

Patient: I think I have macular degeneration, my chest hurts when I take a deep breath. I could not stop laughing.

I don't know WHAT they were thinking. Reminds me of my former mother-in-law, who said that her husband had 'gonorrhea' (it was glaucoma).

Internal medicine resident: "Miss Emma, do you know where you are?"

Miss Emma (annoyed): "I'm right here!"

OMG that's hilarious. You-can't-make-this-stuff-up...

Had a 94 year old female. A&Ox4. The PCT I was working with that night comes out of her room and tells me the conversation

Patient: I like that hairstyle you girls wear now days, yours looks cute like that

PCT: That's so sweet, thank you

Patient: Are you a part of that club?

PCT: What club?

Patient (now whispering): you know, the "lesbian club", I thought you all wear headbands

PCT is married with 2 children, but was wearing a headband that day.

Patient had been started on a new psych medication a few days earlier. I am taking care of him and he tells me that he just isn't feeling right, but can't really explain his symptoms to me. As he had not gotten great sleep the night before I told him to take a little nap, and I'm sure he would feel better after. When he woke up he told the CNA that he was feeling worse and she came and got me. He now stated that he was having vision changes. This sounded serious, so I put a page out to the doctor. As I am waiting right outside his door, I hear him say to the CNA, "I just put on my glasses, and now my vision is better." So when the doctor called me back...I had to tell him never mind.
