Passed The Psb!! Upmc Shadyside

Published

I have been freaking out for the past two months studying for the PSB. I took it on 8/29/08 for admittance to UPMC Shadyside. Well I just got my results back.....99 percentile for verbal, 99 for math, 99 for reading comp, and 98 for natural sciences!!!!:loveya:I'm shocked!!! I started hardly knowing anything about natural sciences!!! I've been out of school for a while. I'm really ecstatic. If anyone has any questions about the test, I'd be happy to answer them. Also, with my test results, are my chances pretty high for getting into Shadyside? Thanks!

i am so upset with myself. i waited til the last possible minute to take the test because i was determined to study as long as i could and in the end it was a lot easier than i imagined it would be. so my advice to anyone is to try to take the test as early as possible before the deadline... assuming you feel prepared that is. unfortunately as a result of my waiting so long to take the test i am probably going to have to wait until next fall to start instead of the spring. also good luck to all of those who have yet to take the test and congrats to those that passed and are starting in march... i wish i was going to be joining you. :o

Good luck. If you have to wait, why not take A&P or micro at CCAC?

I agree with ChristineN............your first classes at Shadyside will be A&P 1 and Micro, so use this time to take them at CCAC--then you won't have to take them when you start. Actually, you could probably get A&P 1 and 2 out of the way before you start.....it would definitely lighten the load! Good luck!

Do you definitely have to wait for fall admission? Sounds like you aren't sure.

well as for ccac i really dont want to do that because i plan on going to chatam afterward and while they would accept the credits it wouldnt really help because they want a certain number of them to come from chatam and being that i already have so many college credits under my belt in the end i would be making more work for myself by going to ccac. and yes i do have to wait if i want to go to the full time program if i wanted to go part time i could start next semester but since i dont have to work full time while attending school and i dont have any children it just doesnt make much sense to go part time. i do think that taking the classes early would help so tomorrow i am going to see if it is too late to take them at chatam next semester.. thank you so much for the suggestion.

I'm a Shadyside grad that's starting at Chatham in a couple weeks. As long as your diploma is still from Shaydside, you have no gen ed requirements at Chatham!!! I transferred my sciences to Shadyside from a community college in Ohio, and Chatham doesn't care. I only need 8 core BSN nursing classes from Chatham and I can graduate. So, I really think you might want to reconsider the CCAC thought, as it would be alot cheaper than taking gen eds at Chatham, and if Chatham accepts them, why not?

i will look into it again but when i was plotting out my education path and contacted chatam that is not what i was told, but people make mistakes so i will be sure to call first thing in the morning and try to get to the bottom of this thank you so much for telling me.

Make sure you tell them you will have a diploma from Shadyside, as there are different entrance and class requirements for Shadyside/St. Margaret alumni compared to the rest of the RN-BSN students.

Lol. well the powers that be took the entire matter out of my hands this morning. Apparantly a slot opened up for the Spring 09 class and it is going to be offered to me Natalie sent me an email this morning saying to be on the lookout for the package so i am over here jumping for joy right now. i just want to once again thank everyone for all the information and taking the time to answer my post.

I too was hoping to get into the full time spring semester - oh well, I guess this gives me my answer that there isn't enough room. I guess I'll have to wait till fall . . .
