Passed The Psb!! Upmc Shadyside

Published

I have been freaking out for the past two months studying for the PSB. I took it on 8/29/08 for admittance to UPMC Shadyside. Well I just got my results back.....99 percentile for verbal, 99 for math, 99 for reading comp, and 98 for natural sciences!!!!:loveya:I'm shocked!!! I started hardly knowing anything about natural sciences!!! I've been out of school for a while. I'm really ecstatic. If anyone has any questions about the test, I'd be happy to answer them. Also, with my test results, are my chances pretty high for getting into Shadyside? Thanks!

I'll also be at the information session tomorrow! See you there!

great... dont forget it will be picture time before it starts...lol so no bad hair days allowed....

and BTW... my name is Dirra

Hi all - I'm sorry, I know this doesn't have anything to do with this thread, but I can't figure out how to post a new topic. At the information session today, I learned that it is going to cost over $50/month to park. Does anyone know any other cheaper alternatives? I can't take the bus - as I'm coming from Cranberry Twp.

BTW - It was nice to meet you Dirra! You are going to be the life of the class!!! :chuckle

There are some neighborhoods and streets around the school where students will park for free(no meters no permit needed). You can also pay meters in the streets surrounding the school. I know it sounds like a pain, but most students were able to make it through school without leasing parking. Hang in there.

it was very nice to meet you too. and i hate to disappoint but i am hardly that much fun all the time...lol i figure laugh now becuase the next 22 months are going to be kind of stressfull..

just checking in on everyone to see how things are going. for those of you that i met during the jan. 7th orientation i just wanted to give you a heads up so that my appearance isnt a total shock. my best friend is going through chemo and recently lost all of her hair. she felt so bad about it that i shaved mine all off so that she wouldnt feel alone... lol i know this is pretty extreme but hey she is my best friend in the world... at any rate i was just trying to buffer some of the shock...lmao... see you all in a few weeks.

Dirra - you are the definition of a true friend. I think it's absolutely wonderful what you did!!

I'm really looking forward to March 2! Did everyone get their schedules? I'm in Group A . . . anyone else?

i got group B... and make sure you wait to get the updated book list... there is an error on the one that went out with the schedules... when i realized it i contacted joanne and was told they were mailing out a correction. most of it is right the only issue is with the microbiology class.

HEYY! I'm not sure if anyone is still talking about this psb in this thread, but I had a couple questions. Im really nervous! I have the ARCO book and have been studying from it for the past 2 weeks. I'm nervous about the verbal part. Are there a lot of weird words or is it pretty basic words? Should I review a lot from the book or should I look elsewhere? I neeeed to pass this test! I take it on friday! If anyone could help I would really appreciate it!

first and most importantly RELAX~~ i cant tell you how many people i have talked to about this test that needlessly stressed themselves out.

now from what i recall the vocab was very very basic and nothing to stress over. now as for studying i bought a bunch of books and studied for about a month and to be honest i overdid it. the math and vocabulary were very simple. the reading comprehension was only difficult in that it was totally unfamiliar material but as long as you read it carefully you should be fine. in retrospect the only part that i am glad i studied was the science part. apparantly this is the section that gives people the most trouble and is the major cause of most retakes. so study the science... watch the discovery networks (i got more than a few questions right because of watching ) and i cant say this enough... relax because you will surely do better if you dont allow yourself to get stressed over it.

i hope this was at least a little helpful and good luck!

Hey lmb41,

I responded to your other thread about the PSB exam at Shadyside. Basically I wouldn't worry too much about the vocab. Instead, I'd brush up on your science facts. (read the other thread as I'm to tired to type it all again). :D

For some reason I have to post something again to read the reply.
