I have been freaking out for the past two months studying for the PSB. I took it on 8/29/08 for admittance to UPMC Shadyside. Well I just got my results back.....99 percentile for verbal, 99 for math, 99 for reading comp, and 98 for natural sciences!!!!:loveya:I'm shocked!!! I started hardly knowing anything about natural sciences!!! I've been out of school for a while. I'm really ecstatic. If anyone has any questions about the test, I'd be happy to answer them. Also, with my test results, are my chances pretty high for getting into Shadyside? Thanks!
correct, all the material says that you're not allowed graphing. There was one person in my testing group that had one and he used it, I'm not sure if he spoke to them beforehand our not. I would take a scientific just to be safe. I picked one up at target for 10 bucks (i too only had a graphing)
good luck!! it goes fast, you'll do great!
I'm in a totally different state: GA. I took my PSB test at the end of October, haven't gotten my results back yet though. I'm curious about something though. In one of the study guides I looked at online, it says to answer ALL of the questions. Well, I did that in the first section.. the instructor said that we had two minutes left for that section so I skimmed down through the remaining questions and took a guess, leaving the ones that I knew I could answer in a short amount of time (those ones such as if A is to B, then C is to...). We were given a short break, and we were all talking about whether or not we should fill in all the answers or leave blanks. The instructor recommended us to leave blanks, which I didn't agree with.. but does anyone know how it is graded, and if I should have left blanks?
Hi! I'm a current Shadyside student, but I remember well the agony of waiting for results. My advice would be to get all of your application stuff sent.....the worst case scenario is that they would hold it until you took the test again if you had to. You don't want to miss the deadline. If you need to get transcripts sent, that takes awhile so get everything started........it can't hurt. Also, try e-mailing Natalie.........that worked for me when I was trying to get her a couple of years ago when I was in the process of applying. Good luck with everything.
Hey All! Hope everyone is having a great holiday. For anyone who is starting Shadyside in March 2009, do you know when the information sessions are in January and February. I know there is still on more for the month of december but I was hoping that someone who got in recently would have the info for the other information session dates. Thanks!
i am so upset with myself. i waited til the last possible minute to take the test because i was determined to study as long as i could and in the end it was a lot easier than i imagined it would be. so my advice to anyone is to try to take the test as early as possible before the deadline... assuming you feel prepared that is. unfortunately as a result of my waiting so long to take the test i am probably going to have to wait until next fall to start instead of the spring. also good luck to all of those who have yet to take the test and congrats to those that passed and are starting in march... i wish i was going to be joining you.

I remember reading somewhere that graphing calculators are not allowed. I'd suggest bringing a simple scientific calculator instead. Better safe than sorry. I'm testing on Wednesday also!
