Passed CA NCLEX 2008, just got SSN this 2012, applied for CA-RN license

Published

Hi to all! I passed the nclex last 2008. I just got my SSN last month as an employer based immigrant. Just a week ago, I submitted my Completed Application for Licensure by Examination including a U.S. social security number as instructed by the CA BON. My school also forwarded the needed documents.

My questions are:

Has someone gone through the same thing as I am?

What happened?

Did they release your license or not?

If yes: How long did you wait for your license?

If not: What did they say? Can you send me a copy? Did they make you do further studies?

--As i have said, I am on employment based petition, so with this, my employer is waiting for my license. With this, my life is on hold. I hope to be enlightened with this. Thank you so much.

To anyone who can anawer this..

- Passed the exam way back 2010.

- License issued just this year(2014) because ive just got my SSN.

Question:

1. Do i have to get 30hours of contuining education for my first time renewal? because in the letter that i receive about CONTINUING EDUCATION FOR LICENSE RENEWAL says " except for first time renewal by RNs who obtained their initial license by passing the national license exam within the PAST TWO years.., basically i dont passed the exam for past two years, i get a little confused here.. [emoji4]

I know there lots of cases as mine here..

Thanks in advance..

Hi winel i sent you pm!

Hi! I just submitted my application to the board. Hopefully, they will not be asking anymore for my cases. Anyone who got their licenses recently without problems? :)

Dear all,

I just spent about 2 hours reading through the whole thread. Since it's been a few months since the last post, I would like to post my situation (which is fairly similar to the ones from early 2000's) hoping to receive help and sound advice from the fortunate ones who have already received their licenses:

I passed by NCLEx for CA in 2011 but recently just moved to the US on petition. I received my SSN just a few days ago. I have my pass letter with me.

What do I do now? Do I re-apply through examination? How necessary is it to go through CGFNS?

Which state are you looking to get licensed in?

My original application in 2011 was for California.

Then contact the BRN. For CA there is no need to involve CGFNS

I tried calling but I always get the "we are experiencing high volume of calls" message. :(

Hi! It's just like applying for the first time. Send a new application form together with a copy of your pass letter and all other requirements. California does not require CGFNS. I'm in the same situation as you and I am still waiting for the board's response. Hoping for the best, of course :)

How long have you been waiting? :(

Application package was received Feb 25. Check encashed Mar 25. I hope it doesn't take too long...

Did you submit an original diploma? Or is a certified true copy okay? :)

As far as I can remember, I only sent a photocopy of my license because they only asked for "a copy of your license or diploma that allows you to practice professional nursing inthe country where you were educated". I think a certified true copy or even just a photocopied one will do. :)
