Hey! Has anyone else applied to the absn program for 2019? Or heard back yet? I applied to Lawton in the spring and to OKC for summer.
I heard back from my contact that i have in the program, she said that there is an emphasis on dressing for first impressions but that a lot of people just wear jeans or leggings to class. There are days when they’re instructed to wear scrubs or an OU polo that you can purchase, and always scrubs to clinicals. And she said there are some occasions where they’re asked to dress in business attire. Hope that helps!
I sorta like the idea of dressing up to class...realistically we will all be exhausted and want to roll in with yoga pants and hoodies, but having to dress well definitely gives off a more professional vibe. I think it would encourage me to take things more seriously...think “career mode” vs “student mode”.

I definitely agree! That’s why there’s coffee and concealer. I think it’s especially true if any employers ever come to visit. I know in my boyfriend’s nursing program, employers came in to recruit and catered lunch frequently throughout the semesters. Dress to impress!

I just got a jury summons so I emailed and asked about when Orientation might be and was told May 15. She also said she expects decisions to be put by the end of the week (knock on wood).
The person I’ve chatted with that’s in the program also mentioned the things on the college of nursing’s orientation page- info about CPR classes, vaccinations, computer requirements- things to think about if you’re trying to start to get things together. I went ahead and registered for a CPR class on friday. I figure if I don’t get in-it doesn’t hurt to have.
Trying to be patient!!!
Can we take an online CPR course?
