OU 2019 absn (2018 applicant)

Hey! Has anyone else applied to the absn program for 2019? Or heard back yet? I applied to Lawton in the spring and to OKC for summer.

Are you not even waitlisted? They specifically say you’re not required to have the coursework complete at the time of application. That’s so frustrating. I’m sorry.

not even waitlisted. I called and talked to Angela Thomas. She used the apples and apples analogy. It looks better if you have all the pre-reqs done, regardless of GPA. She felt bad.

Hi all:

I just received my rejection letter today. I thought I was competitive, as I have a 4.0 science GPA and 3.5-3.6 for last 60 hours. I did not get into either OKC or Tulsa and was not put on the wait list. I was also not given any areas for improvement in my email and I received my email after business hours so was not able to call admissions to clarify.

I am an OU alum, have a business degree with 3.4 GPA (prior to taking prereqs). I finished all my prerequisites about a year ago, but I took them in Seattle at colleges and the credit hours for some classes did not transfer correctly. Therefore, I am currently retaking Micro and A&P II just to make up hours. I was told that it was no problem that I was currently retaking them, as I have completed them prior with 4.0. Did anyone else have a similar experience or were overall and last 60 hr. GPAs of people accepted in the program just really high this year?

I saw that in the past year, people were accepted with 3.0 overall and science GPAs, and some were waitlisted with even lower GPAs and coursework in progress.

Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

It's like reading my life story. The EXACT thing happened to me, except I am from Texas and I graduated with a BS in Speech Language Pathology. I graduated in the top 5% of my college class and have double 4.0 gpa in science and my regular coursework. I was just missing General Chemistry and A&P 2. The lady told me she was sorry, but "when comparing apples with apples", the one with all the pre-reqs looks better, regardless of GPA.
