Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2021

Published

Hey everyone!

I haven't seen a post for Fall 2021 yet so here it is!

My choices are:

1. UofT

2. McMaster

3. Nipissing SPP

I started my OUAC application in November and now trying to work on the supplemental packages. My CASPer Test is on January 12, 2021.

I need to take Anatomy and Physio course(s) however, I'm having a hard time figuring out what would satisfy the requirements from all three universities. My options so far are:

1. Take CBLG 101 in Winter and CBLG 111 in Spring at Ryerson. However final grade will be in June; hoping that's fine.  This satisfies all 3 unis

2. Take SCS 2159 in Winter from UofT which is enough for UofT and McMaster but not for Nipissing. I have to take an Anatomy course just for Nip.

I have a Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education from back home, been working as an RECE in Toronto the last 8 years, have a Diploma in Nonprofit Management at Ryerson. My cGPA is 3.55 which I'm worried about. Lots of extra curricular activities from university and volunteering here in Toronto.  I still have to compute the GPA for the last two years.

I requested WES to send my transcripts to Nip and McMaster and asked my old uni to send to UofT.

It's been an expensive application so far; really hoping I get in! Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our experiences.

Hey everyone!

For everyone who has applied to Nipissing for the SPP program, do you know when we should be hearing back from them to know if they have received our application? I have applied to York and UofT and have received an applicant number from both universities but I am confused how we are suppose to track the status of our applications and the sending of transcript with Nipissing.

Hope everyones application process has went well thus far! Best of luck to everyone ?

Hey I’ve applied to their program too. I got the info about making a student account in an envelope through the mail about 2 weeks after I applied. Also, I believe we just send our transcripts by OUAC. If you have any doubts email them [email protected]. Hope this helps!

Thanks! I'll check the mail again and if anything I will email them because its been a while! But thank you for the update!

A bit random also, but have you heard much about the SPP program? It seems so hard to find information on the program but it seems so interesting when comparing to other accelerated programs! I love the aspect where there is more clinical placements than compared to most other accelerated stream programs.

Right!! There definitely isn’t much information about the SPP program compared to the other accelerated programs, I’m just looking through old forums to get some info LOL. But it seems intriguing.

Hey! I applied for Nipissing on OUAC on Dec 7 and got the package first week January, although their letter was dated Dec11. I guess it was the holiday buzz that made post slower for me.

The package included the supp forms + WebAdvisor login credentials so you can see which requirements have been received.

I agree, there is not much info re SPP on the university website. I've just read lots of forums here and on reddit about it. It's interesting!

I've emailed them a few times since December and they have responded within a week or so. Although I've been asking about my Psych prereq (not on the approved list; sent 3 emails about it) and they haven't gotten back yet. I just submitted my forms so hopefully it's fine!

All the best everyone!

Thanks for the reply, the holiday busyness makes sense!

If you don't mind me asking what was included in the supplementary forms which came in the mail? I found this online and submitted it earlier to the admissions email but I was wondering if anything else needed to be included. Hopefully I will get my package soon so I can finish the application and make sure everything is okay!

Yeah that's the whole thing. I added my PSYCH course description since that was not on the list. Hope you get something in the mail soon; I suggest sending a follow up re your online credentials.

Sorry one more question! Does the package say anything about interviews? I know in the past forums I have seen that they completed interviews before sending acceptances out but I didn't read anything about it online and I was wondering if there were still doing interviews this year as last year they got cancelled. Not sure if anyone actually knows this yet though

I didn't see anything about interviews from the package and from the website. I believe they cancelled interviews for last year due to the pandemic.

Hey all,

Happy holidays. I am currently a first-year uoft nursing student. Just wanted to drop by and wish y'all good luck!

It will get more stressful, and you will often encounter self-doubts and anxiety attacks. Try your best not to get distracted by your anxiety, try to stay away from anxiety-provoking posts (this forum.. such a hassle LOL I have a love-hate relationship with allnurses forum haha). You know you've tried your best to pursue this path, and if you don't trust yourself, no one else will. Believe what you can achieve, put your heart, and have something else that can kill your time whenever you feel like getting anxious! Your time will come, and we cannot wait to congratulate y'all.

Hi I just have 1 question. I have taken Summer courses (2 FCE) + my fall term (3 FCE) at UofT. So this means that my GPA will be calculated solely from my Summer and fall courses right and they won't include the Winter term of my previous year?

hi everyone!

For those who applied to Queen's, has anyone had an item on their to do list move past the "initiated" status? I've sent in both of my transcripts but all items still say initiated for me and I'm worried with the deadline fast-approaching.

Thank you!

Hey, I submitted both my transcripts as well, but my high school one months ago. When I submitted it, it moved past the "Initated" status and was no longer in the To Do List. But I'm in the same boat for my undergrad transcript, which still says initiated although it should have been received by now. Hopefully that changes soon!
