Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

Hi everyone! Just wondering, do you guys think the university closures would affect admission processes? Like would we be receiving acceptances any later now?

Yes, I think it's likely to affect some schools. For example, Dalhousie medical school acceptances won't come out until April now (I have a premed friend who heard from them today) and I expect most programs are in a similar position.

Nipissing sent out acceptances today, which was weeks earlier than we anticipated but with that said they cancelled their interviews so that probably sped up the process!

Anybody gotten any offers from trent

Specializes in RN.

Hi everyone.

I got accepted into Lakehead University! I did not receive an email but I checked the student centre ?

Can anyone that went to york give an estimate about tuition costs for one year? (3 terms) or per term?

Edit: this was the confusion; York provides a fee schedule on a per credit basis, but they don't tell you that a course is worth 3/6 credits (term/2 term course) so mulitply the fee schedule by 3 and you have your tuition. Money grabbers!

Yes. I got an offer from Trent so they have definitely started sending some out. Check your my.trentu portal! I know people who got into Trent as late as June, last year. Good luck!!

WOW! CONGRATS!! If you don't mind me asking, when did you get the offer?

Hey everyone,

I hope you're all staying healthy during this unpredictable time.

Has anyone thought about any potential delays to the program start dates? I know many medical schools and nursing schools (I.e U of T) are now pushing back graduation dates due to the postponed clinical hours. If they get pushed back, do you think we would too?

I guess there are a lot more important things to be worried about right now, but I just started to wonder about that. My Summer job at the hospital has already been postponed as well (was supposed to begin in May).

I don’t think so since they are technically all working from home.. (rather I hope not)

Oh, yes I don't think the acceptances will get pushed back, I'm sure they can do those things from home (I hope). I was more thinking about the actual programs commencing on time. I've heard from some hospital staff that they are expecting things to not be able to return to normal for quite some time, even into the fall.

I guess there isn't much point in stressing over this for now though. We can just be hopeful/thankful for any acceptances we get ?

Oh damn I didn't read your post properly o_O my bad! Yeah, I def think it will either be delayed or first semester being replaced by online... I’m doing undergrad at uoft RN and apparently the profs were asked to prepare for online fall 2020 semester just in case.. ?

I think if anything it will go online! I am pretty sure that for most schools, practicums don't start until Winter semester anyways. It is definitely a possibility that our acceptances will be deferred, or that it will go online. Just hoping for the best!
