Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2020

Updated:   Published

Hey, I used to creep these forums for the past few years and they helped affirm my decision to apply to nursing school for Fall 2020. I didn't see one started for next year so I thought, why not start one?

I graduated a while back so I'm a bit older, but my top three choices are:

1. Queen's

2. McMaster

3. York

4. Humber-UNB

I just got an offer to York! ? Last year's GPA was around a 3.3 and cGPA is around a 3.6, but I have had three years of full-time experience in clinical research, so I'm super pumped I was considered even though that factor wasn't looked at!

CONGRATS and CONGRATS to everyone who received their acceptances to York and other schools.

If you don't mind me asking, did you recieve your acceptance this morning, and are you an external or internal applicant?

Those who are from uoft undergrad applying uoft:

are you guys doing CR for your last year courses? If so, how many? Do you think they will disadvantage us over CR-ing courses? I called Tammy this morning and she told me to do what’s best for me and just relax and rest up.... and I’m like... huh? LMAO. I am thinking about doing CR for ana300 and csb447... that will leave me with 2.5 FCE for this year with 85% average.. what y’all think?

CR them if they’re not going towards your prereq courses for the program!

None of them are prerequisites as I already fulfilled all the nursing requirements past semester... those are just for graduation requirements.. should I then just CR all??? Do you think it’ll be OK?

It should be okay since they don’t care if you take a full course load or not!

I was thinking of applying the CR option for ana300 too!! I don't think it'll be a disadvantage, I think she just meant to do the best in your courses you have now and take it lightly and do what you think is best for your situation. So crediting ana300 would leave me with 8 courses this year. It's not a prereq for any of my program requirements but I'm still scared that it'll affect me graduating this June. I tried to CR it back in Feb and degree explorer told me I didn't fulfill all the requirements for my degree but I'm unsure if the current situation changes that. Does uoft look at Winter grades for admission decisions?

When I asked this morning, she said the final years grade will have to be minimum B+ if you get conditional offer! So I think they dont look at it separately, but collectively with your fall semester. If combined with fall semester, I won't have to do CR for any of my courses (assuming I get at least B in each), but I just dont wanna do anything right now LOL

Hey guys, if I receive my Winter term fourth year grades by the second week of April can I send my updated transcript to u of t? I really want them to use my entire fourth year grades for my GPA calculation rather than 5 of the credits being taken from third year.

I think the offers are being sent out first week of April so your 3rd year Winter and 4th year fall averages are already pulled at this point.. you can always email them for clarification/confirmation!!

I received my offer Monday! And I'm an external applicant, I've been out of school for a while LOL
