Dang acceptances are rolling for uoft eh. 2nd year here, about to go into consolidation. Don’t worry, UofT LITERALLY sends every week until the end of June (except Good Friday). You didn’t here yet? No problem because it is only the first round. In my experience, usually the offers are sent out based on the GPA. FYI, I had 3.7 smth ish 5.0 FCE GPA at the time of the application, and I heard either first or second week of May. My friend with 3.6? Ish GPA heard early-mid June. Be patient. Those who are accepted, congrats. UofT is hella slow with communication, so don’t worry even if you don’t hear anything about onboarding until mid/end of June. Just forget about it for now, rest up, travel, whatever you wanna do before hell begins. Just trust me LOL.

to supplement this: reach 5.0 or more (so you add semesters, not courses). let's say you add your 4th yr Fall, 3rd Summer, 3rd Winter and the total is 4.0 credits. Then you don't pull two 0.5 course (or one 1.0) from your 3rd Fall - you add the entire 3rd Fall even if it goes over 5.0 (e.g. ends up being 5.5).

Dang it feels weird to come back to this thread. Year 2 nursing student at UofT here. Don't let your GPA discourage you - UofT is truly holistic in its process. If you are unsure about your GPA, go all-in with your personal statement. Good luck!

Uoft second entry first year here - labs once every other week in first sem. Placement isn’t cancelled - had it first sem and now as well. First sem though, we could only choose btw mental health and geriatric (usually we get to do both). Second sem, placement for three (ped, labour and deliver, med surg - 7 weeks for each rotation) as is, but only once a week (twice a week normally). now, lecture wise.... *** SHOW. No other words needed to describe. ***. Show.

hey just FYI, usually the deadline for the Winter prerequisite is the end of July. And transcripts may not get updated until mid Feb due to OUAC processing time

they will require a full course of physiology... (unless you compare the syllabus to the topics that need to be covered and see if everything they ask for is covered). the in-depth level compared to A&P versus 1 full year just talking about physiology is very different. it's also a core prerequisite & you don't want to mess up any part of the application - better safe than sorry. lookup UofT's continuing studies options/Michener institute/Athabasca U. I highly doubt that it will not be redundant, but at least you will have the background knowledge to ace it.

For uoft, they don't start looking at yours until after the deadline (and I'm pretty sure the majority of unis will wait until the app period closes, minus Queen). Once everything is gathered, they start looking at it in March (I think they sent out an email or posted on the faculty website smth like that). It's not like a rolling basis admission like the US. No need to worry - your Fall 2020 WILL be included no matter what for UofT.

Hey, current uoft first year here. The admission's office focuses on what you learned from the EC that is transferable to your nursing ability. Don't worry too much about the duration or the quantity of your EC. Write about your work experience, EVEN IF it is odd. Talk about your experience as a varsity athlete... I am sure you had learned something relatable to nursing. I come from 0 healthcare work background (I was a technician for 4 years), but I talked about how it helped me learn about human interaction, active listening, time management and problem-solving skills. Knowing my GPA was mediocre and having no extensive volunteering or research backgroun, I think the presentation of my learning journey in the supplementary really helped me stand out. Long story short, curate your EC to tell what you learned from that experience to be an outstanding nursing student, not what you did. You will be fine. Good luck.

Hey all, Happy holidays. I am currently a first-year uoft nursing student. Just wanted to drop by and wish y'all good luck! It will get more stressful, and you will often encounter self-doubts and anxiety attacks. Try your best not to get distracted by your anxiety, try to stay away from anxiety-provoking posts (this forum.. such a hassle LOL I have a love-hate relationship with allnurses forum haha). You know you've tried your best to pursue this path, and if you don't trust yourself, no one else will. Believe what you can achieve, put your heart, and have something else that can kill your time whenever you feel like getting anxious! Your time will come, and we cannot wait to congratulate y'all.

hey, first-year uoft nursing here as well. Unless you are an internal applicant (uoft undergrad), I would highly recommend taking another prereq that can show your grade. Unfortunately, the institution cannot check the actual mark behind CR, and it may disadvantage your acceptance since there is no "guarantee" (from their perspective) that you met the grade requirement. Unless your CR is not calculated for your recent 5.0 calculation, you don't have to worry about getting a good mark for your prereq courses - perhaps petition to get the CR revoked? Especially considering that you are only in your second year, you don't want to have ANY hiccups - uoft rarely take applicants with no bachelor (Most of my cohort has completed Bachelors, masters, or even had other professions long before nursing. I think only 1 in our cohort had 3 years of bachelor, and no other in the cohort above)... so you def want to make sure that your transcript stands out (along with your supplementary). In terms of taking Spring/Summer courses... you may be put to the latter group to receive a conditional offer, especially with physiology (core prereq). If you can cram it in for Winter sem, go for it. Nursing is definitely more challenging than undergrad. I did my undergrad at uoft as well, so this I can definitely tell haha. but it's rewarding, the faculty is really supportive, and we are studying with those who are driven to accomplish the same goal, so it makes it more bearable.

For uoft: they don't care about your previous as long as your most recent 5.0 is met with their expectation ie 3.5/4.0 (I know it says 3.3 but it’s rare in my cohort). My first and second years were terrible, but I got in since my last 5.0 was 3.6+ without any hiccup. For ECs - it’s not about how many you did. It’s also not about how many hours you did. There is no such section for uoft application that they are measuring the quantity of your EC. Rather, It’s about how you convey what you learned/what you improved and how you are going to use these to become a successful nurse. So as long as you write your statement in a way that shows your capacity, you will be solid.

My friend, that’s beyond competitive. You will be more than fine for you GPA. Just make sure you are elaborating your nursing passion in your statement and you will be more than just fine.

If it’s the pre Heath program to get into regular Bachelor program, you won’t be qualified for second degree entry nursing programs, just FYI. Once you complete that and get into life sci or health sci, and get the pre requisites done, then you can apply second entries. Or you can apply to 4 year programs after your pre health.
