Ontario Second Entry Nursing Fall 2019

Updated:   Published

Hello Everyone,

I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York

only next year (yes I am going through the strike).

Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.

Congratulations! You deserve this amazing opportunity at UofT! Is your GPA on a 4.0 or 4.33 scale?

Congrats!!!! What’s their condition?!!!

Hey everyone!!

Just a quick question in regards to UofT admission. When UofT looks at the last five (5) full-course equivalents, are they counting from Fall 2018 downwards (in order to reach 5 full-course equivalent= 30 credits)?

Hope my question makes sense!

Thanks!!!

Has anyone else heard back from U of T yet?

That's awesome!

If you don't mind me asking, what is it in particular that drives you to nursing, and are you thinking of doing bedside nursing, administration, research or becoming an NP? I was also curious what field you MSc was in. I'm currently finishing mine in a molecular biology field ?

Personally, I like how nurses spend more time on average with each patient than doctors do, and care for their emotional well-being on top of any imminent health concern. The care is more person-centred and there is a bigger emphasis on preventative medicine and community health. However, I also don't have the grades to pursue medicine, or the mental stamina to get through medical school even if I were accepted. Otherwise, I might have chosen med school since family medicine and psychiatry both really appeal to me.

Just got accepted to UofT as well!!!!! Ahhh!
