I am currently a third year York University student hoping to apply for second entry nursing at York
only next year (yes I am going through the strike).
Since applications open in November, I thought it would be best to get this forum started. I am hoping to get more insight into the program and I hope current and past nursing students would share their views on the program and how job searching went. Also, what nursing specialties do most York nursing graduates enter as I am hoping to get into public health. Furthermore, share your insights on Humber, McMaster, U of T, Trent, Queens, Western, Ottawa and Nippissing. (I think that is all) and don't forget to include your acceptance GPAs.
I can't speak for this year, but I know last year (and from what I've heard for years prior) it's very much on a rolling basis rather than batches like most schools do. For example, last year (from what I know) acceptances were sent out each weekday for the first week, April 9-16 (I was accepted on the 16th ? ). The acceptances would even vary in time each day with some getting emails in the morning, some in the afternoon, etc - they were very much on a rolling, continuous basis . After that second Monday there seemed to be a bit of a lull and the acceptances rolled out on a less consistent basis (maybe every 1-3 weeks or so? - I'm not entirely sure).
It's definitely anxiety-inducing but try not to worry and hopefully everything will work out! I know of people who were waitlisted and got accepted at the very end of August so there's always hope even if you don't hear back right away ?

Just want to say how much I appreciate this post so much ? Not only for the knowledge from those who are in the programs that we are applying to and from current applicants who have taken the time (and effort because woooow is it difficult to get information from admissions!) to obtain information about the process and specifics, but for the support and encouragement from everyone here! ? This is such an anxiety provoking process because we care so much and so deeply want to be nurses. I honestly believe this is my mission in life! I know i'll be so fulfilled and I'm sure everyone here feels the same way!
I've been struggling so much over the last few weeks about one of my applications in particular and I don't know what to do anymore... I've applied to the french compressed program (uOttawa) which starts in May and I STILL haven't heard a thing. My application still says "under evaluation". I've called twice and been pretty unsuccessful... The first time they said "we can't talk to you about the admissions process at all" when I asked generally when they were going to start sending out acceptances, waitlists, rejections... The second time I called, they said "yes we've received your application, you just have to be patient"... I decided to send an email, but it can take 5 business days to get a response... I really don't know what to make of this and don't know what else I can do ?
Last year the students who got their UofT acceptances the second week of April had very high GPAs (3.8+), extensive volunteer & research experience and/or publications, etc. so personally I'm not too hopeful for Monday ?
Yes, it shall be! Oh well, let's all relax for the weekend and take a breather. Will people be getting rejected on the same day?
I asked this exact question earlier. UofT can wait as long as June until they reject you. In fact, hardly anyone gets rejected in April/May based on past forums.
any more news from Western...whats the deadline for people to give their responses for the second round? I have a 3.8~(80-84%). does anyone know if they will go that low? whats the cutoff for this year?

I am in the same boat as you! I heard from somewhere that they send out a huge batch of acceptances in May. Just sit tight, I think you still have a good chance of getting in.
Does anyone know what the GPA cutoff for Queens was in previous years? I think my GPA is around 3.4-3.5 for the past 2 years, and I'm not sure if I have a chance or not.

I've also been told that the majority of Western's acceptances go out at the end of May. Hang in there!
