Ontario RPN-RN Bridge September 2020 Intake

Published

Anyone applying to any RPN-RN bridging programs for Fall 2020?

I applied to Ontario Tech University (formerly UOIT). I’m thinking of applying to George Brown/Trent, Conestoga/McMaster and Mohawk/McMaster as backups but I really want UOIT.

Def choose the place closest to home.

Just fyi for Cent/Ryerson, I had friends who did that program and they said that as long as you maintain a certain grade, you'll get into Ryerson. Another thing about this program is that the consolidation placement is around 190 clinical hrs.

Ontario tech requires 420 clinical hrs.

The consolidation for Ryerson is 190hrs?

For the bridging program, it's roughly around there. For some people who are working, they prefer less clinical hours and for those who are not working the opposite. Just whichever works best for them. Ontario tech have clinicals in the summer time while Cent/Ryerson have theirs during the school terms.

Do you know if the 2 semester bridging at centennial college requires clinicals

@Toaster2k18 I did hear that they changed the requirements slightly. In the bridging program for Co-Mac we have many research papers, and Statistics within the first semester...so I can see how a University English and Advanced functions class would be helpful for students entering into the program.

I did two practice Casper tests each was $50 CAD I believe. I found it helpful in terms of the style of question and the time factor being fairly realistic to the actual test. You can purchase these tests on the Casper website.

I hope that was helpful ?

1st semester-Acute or chronic illness clinical.

2nd semester-Mental Health or community clinical.

Hi @kim1, wanted to ask a few questions if I could about Centennial bridging program?

Did you enjoy the program overall? I noticed that the part time was hybrid. For the FT program, is it hybrid as well or are all courses in class? What was the hardest course? Did you work during the program? Was the program difficult or? Any advise for potential new students?

Hi, I didn’t do bridging at Centennial, I did my RPN at Centennial. I just finished in Dec 2019 so I know a lot about their bridging program. Part time can be hybrid (online-6 semesters) or in class (flexible-3 semesters). Full time (2 semesters) is all in class. The hardest courses are Theory and Pathotherapeutics. If you choose flexible or hybrid, you can definitely work, if you choose full time you just have to have excellent time management skills.

Something to keep in mind is if you choose hybrid or flexible bridging at Centennial, you have no choice but to do part time at Ryerson. Ryerson will only accept you full time if you completed your bridging at Centennial full time.

PBL is not a favourite course for many people, I find the first year has been review from PN, but it is a mandatory class. We have about 2 or 3 mandatory classes and week, then the rest of classes/lectures are optional. First year is the most challenging/busy but the next two years it should get easier they say lol Lets hope!

Not related to the original post but I did the bridging program at Co/Mac and I did find the first year the busiest. Not the hardest but definitely the busiest.

Thank you for this information.

Hi guys,

I just wanted to ask since a lot of schools are asking for "Proof of current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Practical Nurse, Entitled to Practice with No Restrictions", what document do schools consider as legitimate proof (like an email from the message centre that you have passed or have registered?) and how did you guys upload it to ontariocolleges so it is sent with your application?
