Online Science Courses

Nursing Students Online Learning

Published

Hi all,

I thought that maybe it would be good to have a sticky for online science courses.

I am currently looking for an online/distance learning-- 4-- credit microbiology course. Of course it has to have a lab.

I know that both ccconline and Rio Salado offer these courses. Anyone have experience with either one of these in regards to microbiology, i.e. testing, level of difficulty, user friendly technology. I know from experience with Rio that the exams are proctored but how does ccconline deliver their exams?

If you have a link or resources to other colleges offering sciences--please post them here.

I have not had problems transferring courses taken with CCConline. Chances are that if they approved CC course they will approve CCConline especially since they carry appropriate accreditation. I completed microbiology with them and it was no walk in the park. Rigorous course, but enjoyable.

Good luck.

i have just started a completely online microbiology course at mid state techical college in wisconsin rapids, wisconsin. it already seems as if its a wonderful course and inexpensive! i will keep you posted.

Do you happen to know if Mid State is on the semester hour or quarter hour system?

Thanks and keep us posted!

Diane

It usually isn't so easy find out the quarter hour or semester hour determination, but Mid State stated it on their transfer page. They are on the quarter hour system if anyone else is interested in knowing.

Has anyone had experience in taking A&P I/II and Microbiology (all with labs - 4 units each course) through TUI University California? The courses are on CD with virtual labs. The school is accredited by the same institutions which accredit National University (the BSN program I am looking to enter). I have not yet received an answer from my admissions counselor who said he needs to get the approval from the head of the nursing department. I am just trying to get into action here - the wait feels like forever!

I'd like to know what nursing programs will accept online science courses. I plan on taking 2 online in the Fall...

What State are you planning on going to school in? I am in Memphis and had no problem with my science courses that I took on line. I took all mine through CCConline and my home college was Morgan Community College. they are accredited.

Best advice is to call up the nursing school that you want to go to and double check with them....

klleo27,

thanks for replying...yes..I will check. I plan on applying everywhere. I live in California right now and I know most schools will not accept it online..I think they are aware of CCC online science classes. Right now I am still thinking about nursing or physician assistant studies..just depends on what is the best for me and my kids in the future.

I may have to take genetics and immunology, haven't found an online class for that.

It's encouraging to know what you've told me. Thanks!

Okay!! Good luck to you!
