Rutgers University Spring 2019 ABSN

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hi everyone,

I wanted to create a new discussion thread for people who are applying to the Rutgers ABSN program for Spring '19.

I applied to Newark again after not getting in for Fall '18 (didn't have Microbiology finished in time). I'm hoping that since I sent my application in early, I'll hear back early. Not sure that's how it works though.

Good luck, everyone!

Hi! I wa going to apply for Sp19, but won't have Microbio finished by the deadline.. Do you happen to know if this is a definite deal breaker for them? I thought I read somewhere that they'll still give you a chance with 1 science pending but after seeing your post I thought I'd ask.

I believe they'll still consider you if you have one or two non science prerequisites pending, like psych, stats, nutrition, etc. They seem a lot more strict when it comes to bio, chem, and a&p.

I did not get in for fall '18 with micro still pending (3.8 science gpa otherwise) but I also did really poorly the first time I went to college in '04. That might have contributed as well, I'm not sure.

They might not even look at your application with a science course pending but I guess it doesn't hurt to try? When will you finish micro? If you apply, just email the nursing dept separately explaining the situation and send them your unofficial transcript as soon as you have it.

Thanks for starting this thread! I finished my application over the weekend, hoping we hear earlier than November. How did you guys end up applying to this program? / Do you know anyone who has experienced it?

I'm applying for Spring 2019 as well, but I'm applying to New Brunswick. I went to an information session last week. They don't make any decisions until after the deadline - in this case September 15th. At the information session they said that it's 4-6 weeks to hear back.

Is it easy to get chance in spring rather than fall?? When the admission decision starts coming ?? Though admission office says it's take 4 to 6 wks but I think it may b earlier than that...

Hello everyone,

my name is Sabrina and I will start the the ABSN program at Rutgers (Newark) next semester - Spring 2019. Anyone who will attend the same program-(that is already accepted) & applicants - are very welcome to share, ask and answer questions regarding the program !!!!

Good luck to all :))

Hi guys! I finished submitting my application. I have been reading last years spring thread and people started receiving their letters around October 20. Good luck to everyone!!

Hello everyone

I wanted to share I applied for fall 2018 but I was waitlisted for both campuses and unfortunately I didn't make through for the current semester. However, they accepted me for the Spring 2019, I will attend in Newark.

not sure what they consider most relevant in selecting students for the program, I had all pre required classes done, overall gpa of 3.88 and 4.0 for the required classes, a strong resume but without any experience in the health care field. If you did your best, just cross your fingers!!!!

I wish good luck on your application process!

Thanks for the info on when they start to send out letters. It feels like forever to wait that long!

Hi Sabrina - Congratulations!! When did you apply and when did hear that you were accepted? I also applied for Spring 2019 but the New Brunswick campus. I'm still waiting. It's nerve racking! Thanks

Hi RichT

I did apply for fall 2018 (last cycle) I think I submitted my application through NursingCAS on May.

Rutgers sent me an email in July saying I was placed in their waitlist. At the end of August they sent me another email saying they were are able to offer me admission to a future term as I have been deemed admissible by their committee! So I choose to attend in Newark starting next Spring 2019.

Good luck on your application, and..... no worries they take some time to send out their decisions.
