Joliet Junior College Fall 2018 applicants

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Hello,

I'm applying for the JJC nursing program this February and I'm wondering if anyone else is as stressed as I am? I didnt ask many questions at the meeting with my advisor (we basically went over prereqs, grades, and general program info) so does anyone know how the whole process works? I really need the night program and was told that I could potentially get bumped to the next semester if it fills up with applicants that received a higher TEAS score and higher GPA. I'd appreciate any info.

Thanks in advance,

*K*

I'm totally confused, mine says it, but someone who applied before me and has a last name in the beginning of the alphabet does not show it. This is going to be a long wait!

I just checked mine and it hasn't changed... Where does it show it?

mine says "applicant nursing" as well.

Hey guys,

I emailed an advisor about the "applicant nursing" thing and she said that it's based off of what you put on the admissions application. She said if we selected Associates in Arts there were specializations to choose from including applicant LPN transition, applicant nursing, etc. But whether it says it or not our major will be changed to Nursing (NU500) if we are accepted into the program.

Hopefully this helps!

Thank you so much for that update.

Hi everyone!

I also applied for Fall semester. I got a 79 on the TEAS and have a 3.4 GPA. I am currently in A&P 2 and will just have Microbiology and Sociology to do in the summer to complete my pre-req's. I work at Silver Cross and often see the nursing students from JJC and I asked the other day how the sign up process for classes works. They told me that the first semester your Pharmacology class will be online, you will be assigned an instructor for Nursing fundamentals (if you are not already a CNA), but you will get to choose your clinical instructor. After first semester all further instructors and class sections will be assigned to you depending upon whether you are in day program or night. Good luck to everyone and I hope to see you all in the program in August!

Hey Guys!

I've been anxiously waiting for any type of communication. I got a 77 on my TEAS and some how I just won't be happy until I get the official words from JJC. I have all of prereqs done. I have a meeting at the end of the month with an advisor. I've been working toward an accelerated program at Lewis for some time but with my toddler and I have to still find a way to work full time, I had to go with JJC to allow myself some breaks. I don't know much about the difference between the day and night programs. Just excited to get everything moving.

Anyone else in the same boat with work and family?

Good luck everyone!

Thanks for all the info everyone, can't wait!!

Hey debi8699,

I'm right there with you...work & kids, (plus an unsupportive husband). Childcare will definitely be a concern for me! And yes, waiting for this admission email is incredibly nerve-wracking...I check my email multiple times per day! Thanks everyone for all the additional info--its nice to have some questions answered now instead of having to wait until orientation!

Hello everyone!

I'm really stressed out about this. I've been reading comments saying the number of spots open and I'm just worried. I did score a 72 on my TEAS and I have all of the pre-requisites done. I also did the first semester of this program 3 years ago and failed by a percentage point so I do have Pharmacology done and I have my CNA now. I'm just super nervous about not getting in because I don't want to waste another year. I wish everyone luck! Has anyone heard anything back yet? And is the email going to our student outlook email?

Hey,

I was told all of the emails will be to our JJC email account. From what I've heard, no one has gotten an email... yet! Best of luck to you! This wait is sooo ridiculous! í ½í¸£

Yes it is ridiculous... Just trying to stay positive and pray that we all get in..
