Hello,
I'm applying for the JJC nursing program this February and I'm wondering if anyone else is as stressed as I am? I didnt ask many questions at the meeting with my advisor (we basically went over prereqs, grades, and general program info) so does anyone know how the whole process works? I really need the night program and was told that I could potentially get bumped to the next semester if it fills up with applicants that received a higher TEAS score and higher GPA. I'd appreciate any info.
Thanks in advance,
*K*
Thanks! I would love to just get my BSN right away, but the tuition is sooo much more at the 4 year universities in the area. I made an appointment at Chamberlain a while back and they told me it would be about $85.000 for 2.5 years! From the info i gathered, Lewis and St. Francis aren't too far behind that. That was when I decided on JJC's nursing program. I don't qualify for any financial aid. So if I can go to a school, pay much less tuition, and still get a quality education, I'm totally on-board! How about you? You have a great TEAS score & GPA as well!
Yeah I totally understand! I applied at Aurora University because they offered me a transfer scholarship of $8,000 per year so I'm waiting to hear from them as well. I feel like my GPA isn't that good and I dropped anatomy the first time and then only passed with a C the second time I took it :/ otherwise I probably would've applied to a few other programs.
Hey all! I just applied for fall as well! From my understanding if you have a 76 or above on your TEAS composite then you have guaranteed acceptance. The first round of emails stating that you qualify for the program goes out mid March and the next set about 2 weeks later to all the guaranteeds. After that it's 2-3 weeks for anyone who is in the competition pool.
Hey! So I am pretty sure that I have guaranteed, but a good friend did not do great on the TEAS and asked the nursing advisor exactly how the application scoring is done. She was told that the TEAS remains the biggest component and makes up 55% of your overall score. They do look at your science specific, but it doesn't weigh heavy on your final score. You get points for pre-reqs completed. They look at your overall GPA and your pre-req specific GPA, putting the heavier weight on pre-req specific. The advisor told her that there are plenty of times when people how have a 70 get in before people with a 74. Those completed classes are a big factor. Good luck! Wishing you the best!

Hello!
When I applied last semester, I had all of my pre reqs done except for one and scored a 70 on the TEAS. I didn't do well on the science portion of the test and I know they take a special look at that. This time around I scored a 77 on the TEAS (studied my butt off for the science section!) and now have all of my pre reqs completed. My GPA is only a 3.2 but I'm hoping for a better result this time!:-)
