Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

I am very interested in seeing a copy of the vaccination letter they send out when people are accepted into the program. If anyone out there is willing to share -- I love you! Haha. :)

I do not have access to any of my childhood records, nor have I had any vaccinations recently. I'd love to know ahead of time what is required -- because I'd really like to spread these things out over time. And make sure I have the correct timing for each requirement.

I am already cutting things extremely close... Teachers do not have to have Spring grades turned in until May 16, and the application deadline for the fall nursing program is May 18 @ 11:59 pm. I have been told it is doable, but that I need to have all of my ducks in a row.

So I am very much in a "ducks in a row" mentality. Thinking the sooner I can get started on the required titers and/or immunizations, the better. It would be awful to get accepted into the program, and not be able to have everything completed by the time fall classes begin. I also do not want to complete anything too early, and have it not count.

Hello I am an Ivy Tech student now almost ready to apply the medical assisting program, however that isn't what I want, before this I was in the prenursing program in Fort Wayne, due to some unforseen circumstances I ended up with a F and W on my transcript, all my other grades are good I am retaking A&P 101 and ENG 111 in the spring to raise my GPA and to try for As. I'm also thinking to retake PSY101, however I have a B so if I can get As in A&P101 and ENG111 then have a B in PSY101 then I may be competive at least for the PN program. I want to take the TEAS this spring and submit my application by May 18 for fall. I am keeping my options open. I am applying to several campuses at least 4 that I live near. Those are Wabash, Fort Wayne and Marion well 3 . If need be I will apply to others a little farther than my area. I really want to pursue nursing and I pleaded to the nursing advisor of Fort Wayne I guess I should be going to the Dean of Nursing rather than the advisor. Any advice would be appreciated. I know medical assisting isn't what I have a passion for.

Hi Marieh ~ my first question is, have you looked at the chart on this page?

Nursing & Practical Nursing - Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana

Unless I am misunderstanding something, it looks to me like Wabash only has the PN program, and it only starts in the Spring. Marion only offers the LPN-ASN transition, and it only begins in the Summer. If you want a Fall start for "ASN Traditional" ... I think Fort Wayne may be your only option for that. Unless you are willing to drive to Peru, Muncie, or New Castle -- all long hauls. I personally would not commit to a drive like that. I was told that wherever you begin your nursing program is where you complete it.

Are they telling you that you cannot apply for the Fall 2017 ASN Traditional program in Fort Wayne? If so ~ why not? Just trying to understand your situation a little better, so I can offer any further help or thoughts.

I'll just keep on chatting away with myself here, until some other Ivy Tech folks show up. :)

I've been busy using the TEAS Mastery app on my iPhone. I love it because I can just do a few questions whenever I have time ~ and wherever I happen to be.

It is definitely doing a great job of showing me my areas of strength and weakness. I have a lot of work to do in the math and science areas, for sure. The reading & LA come very naturally to me. I can buzz through those and feel so good and confident! ...But I get to the math and science, and... not so much.

I'm going to be on the lookout for any tools I can use to help these things "click" for me. I know I will learn/remember a lot when I actually begin classes ~ but I have to take the TEAS in March, which is only partway through those classes.

I have seen other threads here where people talk about math & science not being their best subjects. Yet part of me wonders what I am getting into! I keep trying to read this ATI TEAS SECRETS book... And I just don't feel like I am absorbing from it. I get sleepy & can't stay focused. Sort of wishing I hadn't spent the money for this book. :(

Hi there, I am also applying for the fall 2017. I wish I could start sooner but the program I am applying to is only offered in the fall.

Hi gemlady! Do you mind sharing what location(s) you are applying to? Glad to hear from you & hope you'll stick around. :)

gemlady, do you have all of your prerequisites done already? Have you taken the TEAS?

I will be attending the Muncie Ivy Tech and they only start the ASN program in the fall, also.

I will be applying to the South Bend campus. Yes, I do have all the prerequisites done. I completed all the prerequisites through a previous bachelors degree that I obtained last year. I still have to take the TEAS.

gem lady ~ It's great that you already have those prerequisites finished!

I haven't attended college since I graduated December 2000. This is all starting to be mildly intimidating. :)

Reading here helps in some ways -- and I think makes me more nervous in others.

I am starting to really think about what I will need for classes beyond books. I got a new calculator, just like the one my high schooler and middle schooler use -- except PINK. :)

Just started looking at planners after I saw someone here suggest it in another thread. Now that makes me wonder what else I haven't thought about?
