Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Nursing Students School Programs

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

I didn't even know there were multiple Ivy Tech buildings until I saw the new one up by PFW the other day. Are there just those two? Or other ones?

I think there is only the two but dont quote me. There is the one off of stellhorn which has harshman hall and the academic center and then there is another over off of Anthony blvd or Coliseum which is called the Coliseum campus and that's where I take all the classes at. I dont really know for sure, if there are any more though, I actually live in a town south of fort Wayne so I just GPS everywhere in fort Wayne haha it is entirely possible the Coliseum campus is newer though, it's more fancy than the other !!

What an amazing kid!! I am sure you are SO proud, you have earned all bragging rights anyway!!!!

I still think it's so weird how they have the ivy tech campuses split so far. The one was like 42 minutes where I go to take my exams and see my advisor but the one for classes is like 50 minutes away. Which isnt a whole lot worse but Boooooo. Although the whole facility is super nice there!!

And @Leadkrm meant to tell you, you got the poop end of the stick with your micro at Lawrence because this is the EASIEST class I have taken this far, but the professor is SUPER awesome and has said a million times she wont make us do extra crap.

I'm very thankful I ended up with micro instead of aphy 201 even though I still think that would have been fun too lol

The countdown in my phone says 7 days, 16 hours, 36 mins and 50 something seconds until letter day. It cant get here soon enough!!!

Well that’s good for you. Idk why the teachers up in Lawrence try to make stuff so hard. Even their advance physiology was was harder than the same class in Columbus. I wonder when I should start back up at school for my BSN or if I should go straight for my masters.

You shouldnt ask me that because I say go big or go home lol but in all seriousness if Masters is your end goal and you can do it now I say do it now! Or like when you're ready Haha

I wanted to have that BSN done first, then see how I feel / what I want to do ... and go from there. If you already know for sure -- then go for it.

I do love . I'm on Biochemistry right now, and it will probably be my most challenging of this degree. But I'm getting through the material, and confident that I'll be able to pass it soon and put it behind me.

I do think I'll go on and get my Masters with them at some point. But I look forward to being able to take off at least a couple/few months (or more) between those degrees.

Just finished Biochemistry last night! I've got 8 weeks left in this term ... I've already completed 23 CU's, just have 16 left. I think what I read is that if you have four or less classes left for a term, they don't charge you the whole 6-month fee. They break it down and charge per class. That's my goal, for sure.
