Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)
I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.
I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.
So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.
On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.
I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.
About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

I'm not ready and it's going to go extra fast because they are only 16 months apart, my daughter is older but still. Hes just right behind her so everything is like BAM bam BAM.

Did you cry though?! I cant imagine the day I have an 18 year old!!!
I cry (internally) about so much. Even my little brother turning 18, then 21... now hes like 24 I think ?
I am at least grateful and know I will be more grateful as the years fly by that I got to spend the first 4 and 5 years together with them though. You are absolutely correct and it is time we can never get back!!
@Leadkrm I hope that everything is going well with your job! I am just starting my first semester of nursing school and would love to get my foot in the door of a hospital by working as a tech. I love how you got your dream job working at Riley and I hope that that can one day be me. Any advice for how you prepared for your interview for your tech job? I am interested in applying for a Tech Unit Support role.

No worries. If you want to send me a message I’ll get you some info. I recommend doing supplemental hours instead of part time or full time. It’s a bit more manageable with the school schedule. I’ll find out which units are hiring at the moment and let you know. I’ll DM you my info so you can get in touch with me since I don’t get on here a ton.
@37changes just came to tell you
TEN DAYS til letters go out ?? will update you again when I hear things ?
@Kotylynne ~ I was thinking of you the other day. Took our HS senior to tour Purdue FW.
You get accepted, I'll take you out to lunch sometime.
You don't get accepted ... I'll still take you to lunch. ?
It's all gonna be ok ~ either way. You're determined.

Oh my goodness!!! You are SO incredibly sweet! It would be so much fun to meet up!! Is your senior shopping around colleges or did he decide on Purdue?? I have heard they have been making tons of improvements there lately!!
We were all really impressed. It made ME want to live in the student housing and go to school there! I felt like Melissa McCarthy in "Life of the Party". If you haven't seen it ~ now you have to. ?
He wants to stay close to home, and he's pretty set on engineering. With his killer GPA (currently 4.06, to be exact) and his 1300 SAT score he got *without studying AT ALL* ... they've already guaranteed him $4000/year off tuition. That's not counting any other scholarships etc he applies for.
I'm not bragging ... this is ALL him. We have told him over the years how much those grades were going to pay off, but he has put in the hard work and dedication without us pushing. Honestly, the kid amazes me.
So he's not fully decided -- it's the only place we've been so far -- but I'd say it's a strong possibility that's where he will end up.
My mom went back to school at IPFW when I was a teen and got her accounting degree (CPA). It has expanded and changed so much since then!
So I think it's also an attractive choice because "this is where grandma went to school" and because his parents met and used to live in FW. It was cool/surreal to drive around and say, "that used to be a Babies R Us, we spent a lot of time there when we were pregnant with you" etc etc. Also, "that's the Ivy Tech where I got my business degree". So of course I thought of you! ?

What an amazing kid!! I am sure you are SO proud, you have earned all bragging rights anyway!!!!
I still think it's so weird how they have the ivy tech campuses split so far. The one was like 42 minutes where I go to take my exams and see my advisor but the one for classes is like 50 minutes away. Which isnt a whole lot worse but Boooooo. Although the whole facility is super nice there!!
And @Leadkrm meant to tell you, you got the poop end of the stick with your micro at Lawrence because this is the EASIEST class I have taken this far, but the professor is SUPER awesome and has said a million times she wont make us do extra crap.
I'm very thankful I ended up with micro instead of aphy 201 even though I still think that would have been fun too lol
The countdown in my phone says 7 days, 16 hours, 36 mins and 50 something seconds until letter day. It cant get here soon enough!!!
