Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

@37changes I actually wanted to ask you if i could, when you got the TEAS mastery App, did you do the practice tests they provide and if so do you feel those really helped or do you think i need to get more?? I also have some available from the ATI secrets book by mometrix. I read way too many posts on here about people doing poorly and now I'm scared again lol

@Kotylynne ~ I don't remember there being practice tests when I used the app. I did pay for the two practice tests that were available through ATI. I used both of those the week before I took my exam.

I'm sorry you're freaking out. I think you will have an advantage because you have already taken anatomy and physiology, both of them right? I hadn't gotten all of those other classes done when I took mine, and I still did really well. You've got this. ?

Thank you so much! I do have aphy 101, 102 and chem 101 under my belt although the science questions so far have really been giving me a run for my money, I'll just have to make sure I hit the books hard for the stuff I dont know (I think it's a lot of biology stuff I just dont know yet)

Starting my second PRN job at another LTC facility, just for a different (and more) experience. I'll have less residents at this new place, and 8-hour shifts instead of the 12-more-like-14-15-hour shifts that I've had at my current job.

Also got started on my bachelors with WGU online. So far, so good. I'd say I will not be one of those who finish the entire program in 6 months or less. But that's fine. I need to be working and getting the money and experience so if the degree takes me longer, so be it. As long as I finish it eventually. ;)

Omg that's awesome! Congratulations!! And go you!! My cousin has been flying at WGU (for teaching not nursing) but still! It's crazy how fast it can go if you want to there! I hope it goes well for you, slow and steady wins the race ;)

None of us can tell you that, unfortunately. It all depends on who you are up against, and what their scores are. Study like crazy & do your very best. That's all we can do. Good luck!

So I applied on the 1st.

My advisor didnt have much to say either way on my overall score would hold but I have a plan B if I dont make it. I'll be back to let you guys know how it goes but wanted to say a huge thanks for everything on getting to this point (a point that ALWAYS seemed soooo beyond my reach) ❤❤?
