Ok, RANDOM question.What do you think of anne geddes pictures?

I wish more of our parents would treat their babies as lovingly, instead of shooting heroin for 9 months, then decorating their cribs with rosaries and pictures of Jesus.

And the name on the crib card is "Destiny" "Miracle" "Precious" or "Heavenly" right? Also a full code, "do everything" kind of baby? Grrrrr...you're right. I see too many parents who treat their babies like crap in utero and then expect us to work miracles afterwards.

Babies are something to be treasured, to be adored, to be marveled at! That's why I like her pictures - she puts babies into the spotlight as the beautiful creatures that they are.

The preemie picture in question...in one of her books, there was information in the back talking about taking that photograph. It was a gentle older man with beautiful, hardworking hands, and a healthy, stable preemie. The picture was taken in the NICU, probably a few feet from the isolette. Heck, we've send kids HOME recently who are that about that size!!!

The pictures I can do without are the ones where the women wear these body stockings and they drop the baby inside to look like she's pregnant and we can "see" the baby inside of her. Those kind of rub me the wrong way.

We have one of her photos in our L&D room . .the one with all the babies in the clay pots at a nursery.

I don't like anything once it becomes ubiquitous. Pop culture drives me crazy. :uhoh3:

I agree with llg who said "As far as the "objectification" goes ... well ... isn't that true of any artform that uses human models? Artists have been using human models for thousands of years and it's not all bad. Art studies/expresses the human condition all the time, and the condition of being a baby is part of that general classification of subject matter."

I do like the phrase "Media for pregnant people" hilarious though.

I think that "Media for pregnant people" phrase offends me more than the pictures themselves.

I hate true Mediaography - True Mediaography degrades sexual intimacy. - I don't think the term used in this context means anything sexual. Just the addiction people get to beautiful babies without any context that it takes hard work and sacrifice to raise children. It isn't all a dream context . . . like other posters have mentioned regarding the women who continue to use illegal drugs while preggers and then give their children names like "Precious" and decorate the cribs with pictures of Jesus.

I really don't think it was meant in the same way true Mediaography was meant.

It wasn't meant that way at all. Truthfully I do think some of her pics are cute. The ones with the babies all wrapped in body stocking or whatever are sort of wierd and creepy. And I don't belive she treats the babies badly. I just reffered to it as such because so many pregnant people I know just LOVE her. It's like she's obtained cult like status among some pregnant people and many of her other fans. It's kind of funny. If I offended anyone I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make it sound as though all pregant people are obsessed with Anne Geddes and have no concept of reality or liken pictures of babies with "that" kind of Mediaograpy. I do NOT think of her pictures that way. I guess just the general obesessiveness of her fans is annoying. Oh and the fact she paired up with Celine Dion. Celine Dion is annoying. Sings beautifully , but annoying just the same. Thanks everyone :)

You are entitled to your opinion...and again if I offended anyone I'm sorry. Mediaograpy can also be defined as any sort of sensational material...I meant it more in that context. (yes I know the primary definiton is the "other kind") I know you gotta kinda be careful of what you say. It was meant to be funny...not offensive. You don't like it...and I apploigize (spelling?)...let's just drop it there. I wasn't trying to make anyone mad.

Celine Dion IS annoying. And I don't like that "oversinging" style of singing.

So, I'm with ya on this one.

And I still think you made a good point with your "Media for pregnant people" statement.
