Hello my fellow nursing students. I will be starting my nursing classes on July 6. That's only 12 days from now! I'm both excited and nervous. We had our first orientation yesterday, well it was more like a meet and greet. I have been on YouTube all day looking at videos on nursing school supplies. So I will be starting my school shopping this week. When did you get your school supply list? I was hoping to get mine at orientation, but nope no list! I hope that we can keep each other encouraged through the process. Congratulations to everyone who got accepted into the program.
That is a lot of money. My nursing book package costs $500. It contained 10 books and we will use all of them throughout the entire program; it also came with access codes so we could download the books to our computers (highlighting and note-taking features are available on the e-books, as well as teaching videos and adaptive quizzing). I was willing to pay $500 for all of that, but $900 for just the codes?!
Consider yourself lucky, my program has 13 ebooks totaling around $1300 + a nurse kit containing bandages, needles and what not for 150. I commute 45 minutes with a motorcycle so I'm very happy about the text being in ebook format instead of lugging around 4 books at a time. It just sucks that once the program is done you can't sell your "used" books to new students to save them and yourself some money but in the grand scheme of things, once nursing school is done a few hundred for books will be of little to no concern.
I'm a little late to the group, but I wanted to say good luck to everyone starting their first day today! My first day is on September 8th. I'm in between trying to enjoy my last bits of "freedom" and REALLY looking forward to the start of my journey.
I start the 8th as well! It seems so late.
