Hi Everyone!Thought I'd start a thread for those of us applying to OHSU Ashland or RCC for Fall 2014 entry. Where is everyone at in the process? I just completely finished and submitted my OHSU application. I'm almost done with my RCC application. A little about me:I've been married for almost seven years. We have three kids and I'm 30 years old. I have a bachelors degree from SOU and have all my pre-requisites and co-requisites completed. Just crossing my fingers that this will finally be my turn. I'm so anxious to start my dream career!
I just assumed it would be late March/early April before we heard anything. This term has been really hectic, which is nice in the sense that it has kept me somewhat distracted from this whole waiting process. If you get into both programs, which would you choose?
What are you taking this term? I really miss school. I jokingly tell people that I'll be a student for life. It's just too bad continuing education costs so much!
I hope we are both lucky enough to have to choose between the two programs. Wouldn't that be nice? I've always been torn what to do if that should happen. Both programs have pros in different ways. RCC is close to home and my children's daycare. Financially, it's a little cheaper than OHSU. On the other hand, I don't plan on stopping at an associates degree. Ultimately, I would like to enter into a masters program. Logically speaking, OHSU makes more sense for me, because of my end goals and the fact that I have a prior degree and all upper/lower devision electives completed. Bottom line? I just want to get in somewhere! I'm not picky :).
What about you? What's your first choice? Not to change the subject, but are you going to the mock interview on Monday at OHSU?
Hi guys! I'm 29 with an almost 2 year old. I applied to both programs this year. I applied to only sou last year with a 4.0 and all my pre-reqs except AP3. I had 2000+ healthcare hours and they said they liked my essay. But I didn't get in. They said the only thing I didn't have was all my pre reqs, and I've never taken any sou classes. I found out end of April, although this year is different and they're doing essays instead. Now I have all my prereqs including all my micro, writing, etc classes done so hoping I'll get into one this year. Hopefully we will all get in! Anxious to hear back the next process. Good luck girls, hope we hear something soon!

It sounds like you have a very good shot at admissions this year. You must be thrilled!:) Did you get an interview email today? I'm a little weirded out that Monmouth and LaGrande (OHSU) students have received emails today and we've heard nothing on the Ashland front.
Good luck to you!
I still haven't taken any classes at sou so I'm hoping that won't be the only factor keeping me from being interviewed. I'm also nervous about the interview, I'm a much better writer and I get anxiety in interviews, but still hoping I get one! No, I didn't get an email today. Last one I got was that 'what to expect next' one. I'm so anxious. I think we have the same point value (you said 57ish?) Yeah I check my emails constantly waiting to hear. Did you say you took classes at sou?

You have such great stats, I don't think you should be worried about not having classes at SOU. You'll do great! I would be shocked if you aren't offered an interview. My points at RCC were 57.08. I really have no idea what to expect with that one? My pre-req GPA is only a 3.67. I have 4 B's (3 in A&P and 1 in STATS). Boo! Oh well. I graduated from SOU with a BS in Communication Studies last June. I took all my electives, advanced micro and all pre-req's. So, there's not much more I can improve on, short of taking classes over. I'm still kind of mad about my A&P grades. I was pregnant the entire series and gave birth two weeks before finals and still came back to take my final, despite having a newborn! I technically got B+'s on all three courses, but RCC doesn't give out +/- recognition. So, it got lowered to B's. So frustrating.
I graduated from OHSU Ashland campus in 95'. I had a few girlfriends who put in their apps to RCC as well as OHSU. The ones who applied to RCC never heard from them...just saying, don't hold your breath. It's also been a while so maybe they do notify all who don't get in.
The Ashland program is amazing!
Thanks, I have my fingers crossed for both of us! That's great you already have a BS, and all electives done too. That's funny, I was pregnant my AP1 and 2 and micro. I had my baby 3 weeks after micro ended. It's tough while pregnant, and also with a baby.. Haha. That's amazing you took your final still. My prereq GPA is 3.79 I think. I got As in everything except AP2 and 3. I was just happy to pass those along with micro at that point. Do you live/work in Ashland?

Tyvin, thanks for the info. My sister also did the ohsu sou program and loved it. I'm really hoping we get in. I didn't even apply to rcc last year. I just figured I'd play it safe and apply to both this year as a back up.

It's always great to see alumni on here! Thank you for taking time to encourage us and give us something to aspire to. :) I hope we all get to join you as OHSU alumni.

I took micro while I was pregnant with number three. He was a bit of a surprise as my middle and youngest are only 16 months a part and we were preventing. Nonetheless, he's been a complete blessing and final addition to our family! We've taken more permanent measures to ensure there are no more surprises. Haha!
I live in Grants Pass and am killing time, waiting to be admitted into a nursing program, by coaching dance at the High School and working at home for my Etsy shop. I can't wait to immerse myself into academia again. I really miss it!

Haha, well with 3 kids, it's impressive you're as motivated as you sound. I'm hopeful we will both be getting interview invitations soon :) I'll let you know as soon as I hear anything from either school and hope you will too. Have a good night!
