Hi Everyone!Thought I'd start a thread for those of us applying to OHSU Ashland or RCC for Fall 2014 entry. Where is everyone at in the process? I just completely finished and submitted my OHSU application. I'm almost done with my RCC application. A little about me:I've been married for almost seven years. We have three kids and I'm 30 years old. I have a bachelors degree from SOU and have all my pre-requisites and co-requisites completed. Just crossing my fingers that this will finally be my turn. I'm so anxious to start my dream career!

I also applied to RCC and OHSU Ashland. My GPA is 3.92, and I have 5 years of healthcare experience, but not as a CNA or RT, so that doesn't make a difference for RCC (but hopefully it will help with OHSU!). I will take microbiology next term; I just couldn't find a way to fit it in before I applied. Oh well... Anyway, I'm a 26 year old single mama with two boys, 2 and 5. I was a little bummed when OHSU Ashland switched from submitting an essay to conducting interviews; I'm much better at "selling myself" in writing than in person! Good luck to you! I'm so anxious to hear back!!!

Hey guys! I'm originally from Portland, living in Albany, and submitting applications to both RCC and UCC in Roseburg this week. With all of my pre-requisites I'm looking at a 3.7 GPA, but unfortunately I won't have experience/previous certification points. I'm REALLY hoping to get in to RCC, yet I feel like my chances at UCC are much better simply because of the way their discretionary points are set-up. I guess we'll see what happens as I await biting my nails. Good luck to the both of you and I hope things work out in our favor! I'll try to update when I receive news. Good day!
Did it take forever for NursingCAS to calculate your GPA? It's been a month, and when I check, my GPA is still in "pending verification" status. I wonder what happens if it's not verified by the deadline??
It did take forever. I want to say around 4 weeks? And the GPA they calculated was a lot lower than my official transcripts. It was strange. So, I called OHSU and asked if they were even looking at the NursingCAS GPA and they said no, not to worry. They would strictly be going by prerequisite GPA. Thank goodness! My freshman year I dinked around and so my overall GPA isn't the greatest. I worked really hard to make sure my prerequisite GPA was high. Whew:). Good luck to you!
Also, can you tell if all your transcripts have been received? They won't start processing it, until every one of them has been marked "received".
Sounds to me like both of you have a great shot! Good luck and stay in touch. Did either of you notice how there's a potential overlap between RCC's written essay timing and OHSU's interview portion? They could both potentially land on April 19th.... I wonder what they will do to accomidate applicants to both programs? When do you think we will start hearing back about advancements in the process? I'm guessing the first week of April? I hope sooner!
Yes, they were received the beginning of January! The whole NursingCAS system seems kind of pointless to me, but I digress... Anyway, yes, I noticed the potential scheduling conflict for the proctored essay and interview! Hopefully at least one of the schools will have some flexibility if that situation arises... I'm thinking they'll have to tell us about first-round selections by the first of April, but hopefully sooner! Also, have you heard how many applicants will be selected for interviews at OHSU?
I have no idea how many get interviews with OHSU? I'll ask tomorrow when I call them and report back. :).

I am applying to OHSU's Klamath campus. I work at the hospital where the nursing students rotate and I hear that OHSU (Portland) sends double the amount of applications to the campuses. For K.Falls it will either be 16 or 24 spots available, so the interview panel will receive 32 or 48 applications and those will get interviews. Half will get in! Not sure if they will do it that way in Ashland or not.
Did that make sense?
Good luck!
Thank you for taking time to respond. That makes complete sense. Good luck to you!
