Hi Everyone!Thought I'd start a thread for those of us applying to OHSU Ashland or RCC for Fall 2014 entry. Where is everyone at in the process? I just completely finished and submitted my OHSU application. I'm almost done with my RCC application. A little about me:I've been married for almost seven years. We have three kids and I'm 30 years old. I have a bachelors degree from SOU and have all my pre-requisites and co-requisites completed. Just crossing my fingers that this will finally be my turn. I'm so anxious to start my dream career!
Hi guys! I'm 29 with an almost 2 year old. I applied to both programs this year. I applied to only sou last year with a 4.0 and all my pre-reqs except AP3. I had 2000+ healthcare hours and they said they liked my essay. But I didn't get in. They said the only thing I didn't have was all my pre reqs, and I've never taken any sou classes. I found out end of April, although this year is different and they're doing essays instead. Now I have all my prereqs including all my micro, writing, etc classes done so hoping I'll get into one this year. Hopefully we will all get in! Anxious to hear back the next process. Good luck girls, hope we hear something soon!
I'm shocked you didn't get in last year!! Makes me nervous... My pre-requisite GPA at OHSU is a 3.87, and I have years of healthcare experience, but I don't feel all that confident. My GPA at RCC is 3.92, but they don't take my healthcare experience into consideration... Ugh, I'm so anxious!!

Yeah I was bummed RCC didn't consider medical assisting experience when it took more schooling than CNAs. And I didn't think I wouldn't get in last year either, so I only applied to SOU. :-/ But now that I've completed every class I can, my GPA is a bit lower, so who knows. Hope we hear soon! It's way too nerve wrecking.
OK ladies; when you get into OHSU please feel free to contact me about any concerns you have with the program or the professors. I know them all very well and can give you insight into things. Be prepared to be bombarded with theory from the start...it will actually makes sense once you start to understand why theory is important.
Under the World Ranking Guide for nursing programs OHSU master's program was 7th in the U.S. With their BSN program ranked 7th when I was attending in 95'. World Ranking Guide.
Be very proud of OHSU as it is always in the upper 10th on ranking scores of nursing schools. We are always behind Hopkins and Duke, but that's alright; the east coast typically has the better schools, in my opinion. Mental attitude is key ladies; I do so very much wish you the best.
Please remember, you are young and you have your whole life ahead of you. If not this year or last then next. I was 33 when I started my pre-reqs at RCC and OHSU. You need to enjoy school, don't let it turn into a monster. Breathe, exercise, meditate, eat right, and take it easy. Get ready for this journey as if you were training for your very life.
Those of you who will be in Ashland will find out that it's a yuppy, new wave, vegetarian, artsy town with their Shakespeare influence; very friendly. Great town to get into eating raw or cutting down on the animal intake.

I think I would prefer OHSU as well, but I'll just be happy to get in anywhere! I will pursue a bachelors, but plan on going on to grad school eventually. I'm in the CNA program at RCC right now and taking some electives online. Two more clinical days, and then I'm done. :)
