Ohio University RN-to-BSN Program

Updated:   Published

Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.

I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.

As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.

As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.

i found this assignment in the resource section for module 1. the slides will explain everything.

I have moderator edit of name - mine says the same as copied above....

Anyone done any research on if the Ohio MSN program is recognized by the Michigan BON??

And, I had BETTER test out of this mess............ the above assignment is crazy - and I am clueless who I would get - it has to be an NP according to the slides - and the college will contact them previous to the assessment --acckkk TESTING OUT!!!!!!!!

Then you must have moderator edit of name for the instructor…Correct??? I didn't have her either, but it seems like moderator edit of name is the one requiring the detailed assessment.

Actually I also have moderator edit of name....just a different section. Lisa said she saw all that in the resources section of the course (after all the modules). I don't look at that section and would have never known had Lisa not mentioned it. I'm going to stay calm for now because you never know what could change. This seems like WAYYYY too much for the bsn and I'm sure there will be lots of questions. None of us know how to use this equipment. I, too, have access to the items and somebody to watch me but still.....it's crazy. I think we can download the assessment form from Jarvis once you register on the website. EVERYBODY STAY CALM!!!! lolol.

Okay, first objective is to test out. If that doesn't work we support each other through 5 weeks of hell! :(

yes support each other. I wish somebody on here had taken it already!!! Well, you guys will pass that exam and I'll be on my own :crying2:

Waiting to start this program in Jan 2012 and now have major concerns over the change to semesters. If it doubles the time to finish...I might as well stay at my current University RN-BSN program. No incentive for me to go with Ohio.

Also, not liking the Health Assessment requirements I am reading about here.

Call me majorly disappointed now!

Can someone repost the POST about the semester change and the link to keep checking in for updates!

Thanks

I feel the same way...if different instructors vary this much in requirements the program is not exactly fair. The time commitment is much greater with the requirements we're facing in 310. Oh well, as my friend and colleague says, "just shut up and do it." But the GPA thing is huge if you want to consider going on to grad school...hence the stress. Ok, back to studying...but what area to focus on for testing out!!????
