Since it seems that there's quite a bit of interest, I'm attempting to start a new thread devoted exclusively to the OU on-line RN-BSN program that will hopefully build on the comments on assorted previous threads.
I'd like to ask nevergonnagiveup, mtsteelhorse and babynurse73 - all of whom (I think) are either already in the program or have applied for admission - to post about their experiences. I just sent in my application and plan to post periodically about relevant issues. If we can populate the thread with good material, it could become a very useful resource for both those considering the OU program and students already in it. Once that happens, I'd hope we could prevail upon the forum moderators to make it a sticky thread.
As indicated, I've only recently applied to the program. So far, I'm happy with the support and information I've gotten. I've been contacted by an OU "enrollment specialist" who was somewhat helpful (I suspect that they have dual roles, one being to provide basic information to prospective students and the other to follow-up with the prospects and help to fill the roster for the program). This person e-mailed me, followed up with a phone call and was able to provide some useful, if basic, information about the program. I also sent a lengthy e-mail to OU with quite a number of specific, detailed questions. This too resulted in both an e-mail and telephone response, this time from an academic advisor in the OU School of Nursing. Again I received some useful and quite helpful information. All in all, my early experience has been pretty positive.
As indicated above, I plan to post about relevant issues that come up as I work my way through the admission and evaluation process. I'd very much like to hear from others about their experience with OU and I'm sure that there will be a lot of interest by others in our collective experience with the program.
OMG has anyone looked ahead for the assessment class and seen the full assessment that is due. I had no idea we had to get someone to watch us do an absolutely insane assessment. What BSN nurse do you know uses an opthalmascope or an otoscope. We have 3 weeks to get our act together. OH boy am I nervous now!

Where does it say that?? I missed it............It does look like a lot of work though....videos, reading, quizzes......
Let's just pass the course and be done with it!!!!
I saw the assignments - and I am willing to take ANY grade to pass this - YES, even an 80% and I will be pleased!!! I have crazy schedule coming up and need to pass out!!!
I am also taking the other nursing course scheduled, PLUS Stats --- and then in a few weeks I am starting EN 101. Then after this 5 weeks, I am taking 3 intercession classes LOL - Happy Christmas to me!!!!
I will be done before the semester change!! I WILLLLLL!!!!!!

hi michelle, i looked in the module 1 resources slides. it looks pretty detailed, but we have 3 weeks to decide how we want to do it. :)
Went from having to do NO discussions in strategic planning to having to do 8 in health intervention....Apparently the content in this class overlaps w/community nursing, so that will be a good thing.
I saw that too! Strategic Planning was a breath of fresh air for me. The overlap will definitely be a plus for this course. However, amount of discussions seem a little excessive though. I guess I will wait and see how this pans out. I had this professor in Gerontology and she is a bit hard with grading. We have to make sure that we follow her instructions specifically and be very detailed. Hope that I will have a better experience with her this time.
Has everyone gotten their grades from the session that closed last Sat? I don't mean the course numeric grade in EPIC, I mean the actual, official class grade posted on the "Academics" tab you access through MyOhio. As you can tell from my question, my grade is not yet available. In response to my query, the TA tells me that "there is usually a delay" in getting the posting of course grades (it was pretty obvious that she was a bit peeved at my question). While the delay is not really a big deal, I don't recall this being the case in the previous course.
There usually is a one week delay from last day of class. I expect to see grades posted as of Monday or Tuesday, October 17-18.
I cross fingers and toes for all of us that try to test out. I need to go for it early on so I don't get behind. I understand you find out right away, correct? The syllabus is loaded...why did I sign up for 2 classes??? OMG!!!
Is information now posted about the test out option? Yes, as soon as you hit submit, your grade pops up. But don't "stress" as they might do a "slight" curve. For my exam they added 5 points.
