Ohio State Master's Entry Summer 2016

Published

Hello! Has anyone out there applied to the Entry Master's Program at Ohio State for the Summer 2016 start?

Congratulations to the folks who received an offer of admission! I am so happy for you, as I know how much work went into getting to this point and how incredibly exciting the next step is sure to be. Hungrystudent, you've been so thoughtful and generous throughout this process, and I admit I was concerned you'd received undesirable news when you did not post for a couple of days. I'm very glad to hear of your acceptance and certainly hope to be joining you in the PMHNP program.

I am really grateful for everyone on here and your willingness to seek out and readily share information. It has been deeply helpful in many ways. I anxiously (and I mean that very literally) await the decision. I'm trying to be positive, as I have worked very hard to become an extremely competitive candidate...but, you know, who hasn't, right? Let's hope our acceptances come rolling in sooner rather than later.

Take care and be well everyone!

That is such a sweet message! This weekend was the weekend of technology failing across the board--I had to submit my deposit in the parking lot at work using my cell phone browser since I have no internet or cell service at my partner's place...ahhh!

Your message means a lot. I was devastated when I did not get in last year. I am probably older than a lot of you and left a field I had several years of experience in to follow a dream I just could not shake off, even after nearly a decade of receiving my college diploma. I spent a lot of nights with the heat low and eating one meal a day (thus the name, "hungrystudent" :p) so I could fulfill/afford the requirements to apply for this and other programs. Having this forum on which to ask questions and vent was a huge source of relief for me throughout the whole process and I suuupper duper hope to see you guys this summer. You guys are awesome!

I agree - what a sweet message! I think we all are waiting not only for ourselves, but everyone else. It is so hard to not have a decision yet...the anxiety is overwhelming. I'm not sure what I am going to do if I don't get in...I don't want to give up, but I already have two masters, two bachelors, and am $100K in student loan debt. This is just something I've always wanted...I'm older too and so I don't want to give up if it doesn't work out, but at the same time, I'm not sure what more I could do to get in next year. I know everyone here has a lot they have had to go through to get to this point, so I wish everyone the best as well!

Does anyone know if decisions are sent out alphabetically in any way? Just curious if I'll be one of the last to hear, as I am used to with a last name of Weaver :-p

Don't worry about being too old, gang! We're all in the same boat. Taking the pre-reqs there were a few times I looked around and thought, "man, I probably have underwear older than some of these kids..." I struggled with it for a while, but hey: nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Keep your chins up everyone. I've looked at all of your posts about your application stats and, if it were up to me, you'd all get in. Good luck and know that if you think you're being neurotic checking your email/buckeyelink every 15 minutes, there are a lot of us out there doing the same thing. If you get in, don't forget to post about it here. It gives us all hope!

It's kinda awesome many of us have some experience under our belt. It really goes to show how important this is if many of us are leaving careers to pursue this program.

@Ricklesworth your underwear comment was hilarious.... I was trying to sneakily laugh about this at work but failed.

@Hungrystudent.... I think we're about the same age! I also had the experience of not being able to "shake" nursing. Guess that's why a lot of us are here.

@flexis I don't think any of us have an idea if they send things out alphabetically. Their ways are mystical and unknown ;)

Hungry Student did you apply to PMHNP as well last year when you didnt get accepted? What was their reasoning for not accepting last year?

So glad to find this thread! Applied to WH and completed an interview but am still pending. I did not apply for any fellowships. This wait is so difficult!

Hungrystudent... I am unable to send private messages :/ If you want to contact me you can send me your email or something in another message!

Welcome to the forum Kankan! Is this your first time applying? Are you still working on any pre-reqs? I'm taking the pharm course online through OSU this semester.

Has anyone here taken it already? Wondering how difficult it is going to be. There aren't a lot of points so it makes me a bit nervous....

Thank you! This is my first time applying. I have finished all the prereqs although I finished one course - microbiology- fall semester. I took pharmacology online at CSCC over the summer and it was not terrifically difficult. The book we used was Essentials of Pharmacology for Health Professionals, if that is your textbook you should not have too hard a time although it is a lot of information. The practice exams in that text were very helpful!

Flexis- I took Pharm 5600 online and it was just quizzes and three discussions - hard material but easy to find online or in the lectures. Just spend one day a week doing the quiz and there's no exams so its minimal work.
